“Red Carpet” Inspiration

January 15th, 2008 @ 5:41 pm by Ms. Dahlia

I don’t know about you, but I really like awards shows. The glamour, the glitz, the cattiness- all of it. Especially since I’m still trying to figure out an updo for my hair at the wedding, and the red carpet seems to be one of the best sources of inspiration.

But the Golden Globes, sadly, were not to be. The Fug Girls, in this post, pretend that the show really did go on, and that Rachel Bilson wore this:

Now, wouldn’t this make an absolutely fabulous wedding dress? I’m imagining something along the lines of a more casual, backyard affair. I have no idea who made her dress, but I did a little bit of digging and found some similar dresses:

Silk Charmeuse dress By Watters

Long-sleeved David Meister at Nordstrom’s for $368

Calvin Klein at Nordstrom’s for $178(!)

Have you found inspiration from your wedding by celebrities? (And anyone else bummed about the Golden Globes?)

I saw a photograph of Rachel Bilson in that dress on Popsugar and thought the same thing! It is gorgeous! Does anyone know who the designer is?

In case you wanted to find the dress, it’s a Dior by John Galliano.

If I wasn’t already married, I would have loved a dress just like Rachel’s for my wedding. I love the charmeuse.

Thank you for bringing together 2 of my great loves - weddingbee and gofugyourself! The dress was beautiful and I would love to copy it if I wasn’t having a big, formal wedding. My inspiration is leading more towards Cinderella due to our venue choices.

Just found it on InStyle’s Look of the Day! I definitely can’t afford the Dior version. They have a look-alike for less from Elizabeth and James (the Olsen twins clothing line). The picture doesn’t show the fringe in the front, but apparently you can get tie it that way. I still like the Dior version best, but here it is:

Her dress is gorgeous! I don’t watch the awards, but I was bummed that there was no red carpet pre-shows to watch. I always loved seeing all the dresses :(
