About Miss Lovebird

Mr. Lovebird and I attended the special Martha Stewart show for engaged couples yesterday!

Lucky for us, we also had great company. Our friends Michelle and Joon also got tickets to the show; too bad they wouldn’t let us sit together for the show.

DSC00006.jpg

While we were in the waiting room, they gave out a free trip to St. Petersburg and had refreshments of chocolate walnut cookies and Evian.

The show was taped in 7 segments. I won’t go into the details too much so you all can catch it on the show this Friday, January 18th. Sorry I don’t have pictures of the actual segments because they wouldn’t allow flash photography during the taping.

The first segment took place in the garden area and Martha interviewed two recently married couples.

Then there was a fashion show of bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses with the designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka.

After that, they had Wendy Kromer on the show to talk about Martha’s new wedding cake book and had some lovely cakes on set.

Finally, Darcy Miller came on and gave tips on your something old, borrowed and blue. She said she would write something up later on her blog about this.

They also did a segment on Martha’s new Wedgwood collection of China. At the very end of the show they had a short Q&A.

awesome swag and such a fun experience! did i hear you correctly, “While we were in the waiting room, they gave out a free trip to St. Petersburg…” as in they gave you round trip airfare and hotel stay, or they showed a video to encourage you to travel there? cause THAT would be the first thing on my list of “all the great stuff we got!”

I saw you guys there! I remember Mr. Lovebird’s shirt. I remember thinking, “I wonder if anyone from Weddingbee is here…”

It was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve ever had, hands down.

I was right behind you in line! (Plaid coat, complaining a lot about being so cold, lol.) I heard someone joking about having a laptop with them and blogging from the waiting room and I thought to myself, “I bet that’s a Bee!” hehe

It really was a super great show. I’ve been so laid back in my planning but now I want to take a much more active role and maybe do some DIY stuff. Martha was more inspiring that I expected. My mom and I already went through the whole cake book page by page. :)

Mrs. Onion - the trip to FL was raffled off to one person (we all entered). I wish it was a free trip to everyone! lol When they talked about the Wedgwood giveaway, I had a crazy half second where I thought maybe we’d get a whole set of china. LOL I think my brain was in freebie overload.

Some lucky couple got accommodations to a 3 or 2 night stay in St. Petersburg/Clearwater (Florida). I don’t think it included airfare. We were making fun of Mr. Lovebird because he thought it was for Russia~ which would have been awesome. I think the soaps that came with our goodies was part of that promotion? There was also a brochure to St. Petersburg/Clearwater I didn’t take a picture of.

Wow… thats awesome! If you don’t mind me asking, Did you have to buy a ticket/was it pricey? Even if it was, that stuff totally made up for it. Voucher for a camera?! Awesome! Books, perfume… swoon.

All tickets are free. You just have to request them. Press on the “Request a ticket…” link above in the post.

The gifts were awesome!~ we definitely got more stuff because everyone in the audience was an engaged couple and it was the wedding show.

Haha don’t make fun. I, too, thought Russia at first!

I’m jealous of all that swag! Sounds like it was a lot of fun. And that’s cool that Mr. Lovebird went with you. My SO would never be caught attending something like that!

L~ I had to beg Mr. Lovebird to take a day off school to go with me.

Oceanstorm~ since you were behind us in line~ maybe you can vouch for the fact that Mr. Lovebird was on his phone most of the time going over his anatomy powerpoints.

I cant believe I didn’t see you! I did see Mr. Lovebird though because I admired his shirt. We got to sit way up in the front row because we were crazy enough to get there 2 hours early. Thats my big head in front of the lamps in the fifth picture down. I’ll have to post my pictures, too.

Yes, I can confirm that Mr. LB spent some time on his phone - as did a bunch of the grooms there, which I found funny. There were probably about 5 within my view that kept stepping out of line to talk on their Blackberries.

I also heard some talk about how the show House is really good if you’re in med school. hehe

I thought it was St Petersburg, Russia, too! Even though you didn’t win the Florida trip you definitely didn’t go home empty-handed. Those are some cool prizes.

Side note, wish DH and I could apply for the Feb 14th show but we both have business trips. Waaah! We first met on eharmony, fell out of touch b/c busy careers then met up again on Match. We like our story…

I finally met a bee. We were the couple in front of you while we were waiting to go upstairs to the show room.

The show was definitely a blast. Always great to get free stuff esp those fantastic gifts.
