When I’m not obsessing about our wedding I play the cello in my band (which Mr. Radish is in too), read as much as I can, sleep even more, travel whenever possible, and try to find time to have fun with my friends. I’m also working on finishing up my journalism degree with a concentration in environmental reporting and I’m the VP of my campus Amnesty International chapter… so I’m a pretty busy bee.

Part II: My Ladies In Waiting

January 16th, 2008 @ 4:10 pm by Mrs. Radish

Part I: Here Comes the Groom

I decided to rent a hotel suite instead of staying at my parents’ house on my wedding’s eve. My parents’ house isn’t very big and only has one shower for five people, so I figured it would be easier/less stressful to get a room. A good friend of mine who came from Chicago for the wedding, my two sisters, and one of my bridesmaids all stayed in the suite with me. My remaining bridesmaids and my other sisters (who live in Florida) stayed in hotels that were within walking distance so they all came over and hung out after the rehearsal dinner. We had some last minute things to do and it was a chance for us to have a little time together. I’m glad I did this. It was kind of like a slumber party!

The wedding ceremony was early, at 11:30 am, so everyone got up bright and early to have breakfast together at the hotel and get ready. My photographer, Tim Forbes, came bright and early (8:30 am!) to capture the action. Here are some highlights.

Profess010

I wore this at the rehearsal the night before. It is actually very ironic… I’ll explain why in a future post.

Profess011

My little sister/maid of honor and my friend/”bridal assistant” (she ended up being SO helpful) hanging at the hotel after breakfast.

Profess012

My older sister getting ready.

Profess013

My best friend/band-mate cutting the tag off her shoes and looking fabulous while doing it.

Profess014

Getting my hair done in the hotel suite amongst the mess from our breakfast.

Profess015

My little sister and my ladies hanging around waiting for me … I love this picture! It’s a great example of “wedding photojournalism.” She didn’t even realize he was taking the picture..

Profess016

Another great shot of one of my bridesmaids getting made up. The lighting in the hotel suite wasn’t so great, hence the shadeless lamp.

Edited

Fixing me up.

Profess017

My lovely “bridal assistant” looking on.

Profess018

She’s so cute :).

Profess019

My “bridal assistant” is also a fashion designer/seamstress and she made the bridesmaid sashes for me, so she also became the official sash tie-er (is that a word?).

Profess020

The finished product.

Profess021

I’m almost ready now….

Stay tuned for the next episode, in which the Radish becomes a bride!

Such nice black and whites. I love the first shot of the blushing bride button — I have to know what the story is there. I also LOVE the close up of the bridesmaid’s bow. Keep the photos coming…
