Belltown Bride

For my rare venture into downtown Seattle, I made sure to map out all the bridal stores in the area so I could make the most of my day. One I came across was belltown bride, which seemed to have very positive online reviews.

The owner’s name is Melissa, and she’s got this great, forward-but-unintimidating air about her that just exudes…. strong, savvy, female with a lot of pizzazz to boot. She has brides from far and wide book appointments - ladies from Alaska, Vancouver, BC, and even eastern Washington, because she’s got a rare kind of shop (tiffany blue no less!).

She carries designer samples that she sells at 50-75% off retail price. And they’re not like the sample-sale dresses I’ve tried on at regular boutiques that have buttons and straps falling off, broken lace, and the scent of B.O. These are very well kept Vera Wangs and then some, straight from New York!

So here’s what I tried on…. and if you’re in the area and see something you like - give her a call and snap it up quick!
Do you gals have any shops like these in your areas that just sell designer samples?

You look like a cutie! Are you concerned at all about the alterations? It looks like the samples were awfully big on you–will the dress look right after so much is taken in?!

I ended up getting my dress at Bride’s by Demetrio’s in Bellevue. I’ve heard their customer service is hit or miss but I had good luck & they have a ton of dresses! La Belle Reve had some nice Casablanca ones too (also in Bvue)

Anything else to recommend in Seattle? I am in eastern Washington, and trust me there is not much here. I am thinking about a trip to Seattle in February to shop; my sister will be there on business and we can look at dresses together. It would be good to know where to go!

Everytime you post pics of yourself in dresses I want to wire my jaw shut into the wedding. You have a perfect body (in general of course) and for wedding dresses :) Every time you ask us “which looks best” I can never choose…they all look good on you!

I just bought my dress at Cicada in downtown Seattle. They make the dresses right there in the store with beautiful silk fabric. Lots of beautiful colorful dresses. I had a wonderful experience there and highly recommend them. I actually bought two dresses there- they were having a sale!

We don’t have a bridal boutique that sells designer sample dresses. Oh I wish! However, we do have the HQ for Justina McCaffrey here and every year she has a huge sample sale. I purchased my gown at last year’s sale. A $7200 gown for $2000!!! And luckily my mom’s a seamstress so the alterations (which would have been $$$$) were free!

I’m sure they have great dresses (from the looks of it) however there was just some drama with this shop and the fact that she bought a dress from ebay and sold it saying it was a customer return. The buyer felt betrayed

but….. I’m sure they have some awesome buys - the dresses you tried on were exquisite!

Does anyone know if there is a shop like this in Philly? I’m even willing to go to NYC if necessary or a place in CT or upstate Nwe York would work since I would travel instead of my mom then

to tberry, in upstate NY in Syracuse Spybaby bridal is very similar and has the most helpful owner and will beat any price you can find. I got my dress there and we found the mother of the bride’s dress in CT then asked Spybaby Briday in Syracuse about the dresses and she got the same dresses, new for half the price!
