About Mrs. Petunia

Dear Readers

January 18th, 2008 @ 1:43 pm by Mrs. Petunia

Weddingbee readers, you deserve something, too, but I’m afraid this one’s for those kind souls who’ve agreed to take center stage at our wedding ceremony and read something entirely sappy in front of everyone. (Mr. Petunia’s sister is one of them, and poor soul, she’s already terrified). Sadly, I’m a bit uncreative and too literal, so when the time came to choose gifts for the readers, only something reading related could come to mind.

These are their lovely bookmarks from Kyle Designs: an angel for my devout sister, ribbons for Mr. P’s sister (in retrospect, I wish I had chosen a cat design for hers, but not knowing her as well, I chose something neutral) and a heart for my sister-in-law whom I love so much.

They come individually wrapped and the possibilities are endless: gold or silver color for the metal, more than 25 colors to choose from for behind the design, with a ton of designs being available, from animals to symbols to career icons, food and sports, all for $12.95.

You can also pay an extra $5.95 and get one engraved — here’s a not so good picture of the engraved back of mine, with a reader’s initials (choose from 7 fonts):

Mr. P’s stepfather will also be reading, but since he’s a “dad,” too, he’s getting a different gift! And what will they read? My sister is reading a poem in Spanish and my sister-in-law the text from our ketubah. We’re still working out what my future sis-in-law will read — she really is terrified — and my FS-FIL? This reading from the Talmud, the only religious portion of our ceremony actually:

“Blessed art though, O Lord, King of the Universe, who created mirth and joy, bridegroom and bride, gladness, jubilation, dancing, and delight, love and brotherhood, peace and fellowship. Quickly, O Lord our God, may the sound of mirth and joy be heard in the streets of Judah and Jerusalem, the voice of bridegroom and bride, jubilant voices of bridegrooms from their canopies and youths from the feasts of song. Blessed art though, O Lord, who makes the bridegroom rejoice with the bride.”
