After months of being lazy and dreading spending that much money on gown preservation, I finally got around to shipping out my gown for cleaning. I decided it was totally worth the high cost since they clean it, preserve it, fix any tears/rips/etc., and make it look brand new again. My sister decided that she is going to wear my gown and veil when she gets married, and I can only hope that some day my daughter will too (of course, I won’t MAKE her, but at least it’ll be pristine if she does), so it’s going to be a family heirloom someday!
I decided to go with J. Scheer, the recommended preservationist of my gown designer and bridal salon because of their reputation, their 50 year guarantee, convenience, and because they were so nice/easy to work with. Less than an hour after I submitted an online request for a quote, they called me and answered all my questions. I spoke with Johnathan, the owner, and he was SO nice - we chit chattes about the process, the designer, our families, vacations we’ve taken, etc.! He was so easy going, nice, and knowledgeable, that I went ahead and scheduled my gown pickup right then and there (they work with UPS for shipping, so all I had to do was take my gown to the UPS store of my choosing and they packed it up for me). It’ll take several weeks for my gown and veil to get back, but I’ll definitely let you know how it turns out!
Great. I really love your dress. After seeing yours, I got something very similar from Reem Acra. =) Can you share how much the cost for cleaning the dress? thanks.
