Our First Wedding Gift

January 21st, 2008 @ 8:30 am by Mrs. Lovebird

We just got our first wedding gift!

Corporate Gift Stacks

Let me preface this by saying that Mr. Lovebird is an online shopaholic. He will probably kill me for writing this, but the first thing he does when he wakes up in the morning (and mind you he has to wake up before the sun’s even up), is check his online forum/deal sites. This is also his ritual before he goes to bed. Needless to say, we get a lot of boxes in the mail; it would be strange if we went two days without a new cardboard box.

So we received these two huge boxes. Mr. Lovebird was expecting three things in the mail at this point. He knew one was his new surround sound system since he had been tracking it all day online. Then he said to me, “I’m not expecting anything this big from Amazon.” And I go, “Well, I didn’t order anything…” Then I say, “No, it can’t be! Oh my god, maybe it’s something off our registry!!! Someone get me a knife or scissors to open this box!!!” And this was inside…

It was the Mikasa Parchment Fine China 42-Piece Dinnerware Set!!! sent to us by my accountant. I was jumping up and down and screaming at the top of my lungs! I don’t think I’ve been this excited since getting engaged! Our wedding is still a few months away and I really didn’t expect anything this soon. Maybe it was because it was our first gift and because it was so generous!

Did receiving your first wedding gift bring you as much excitement/joy as it did me? Does your first wedding gift stick out in your mind?

Yes I remember our first gift!! It was a set of sheets from our preacher. Every time I wash them I think ‘This was our first wedding present from John & Susan’ and smile :)

We haven’t gotten any wedding presents yet, but our first engagement gift was really sweet. Literally from the moment the news spread that we were engaged, my extended family started bugging my mother to find out where we were registered. Once we registered, my second cousin sent us a three-piece serving dish from Crate & Barrel because it was the first gift she got when she was engaged, and it had special meaning to her because of it, so she noticed I had registered for the same one and she wanted to get it for me too.
