I’m planning a vintage-inspired wedding. Originally, after watching Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor in Father of the Bride waayy too many times, I was planning on having a vintage wedding, right down to old 1950’s prom dresses for the bridesmaids.
Having a Vintage Wedding
PRO: Everything is laid out for you, like a template to follow!
CON: That template is becoming increasingly difficult to FIND
PRO: Your bridesmaids get to wear big fluffly dresses!
CON: Your bridesmaids have to wear big fluffly dresses, and you want to be friends after the wedding
PRO: Greenery-based arrangements are so much cheaper than bloom-centric arrangements
CON: People might think your flowers are cheap, and you don’t get to experience all the beautiful modern trends, like vibrant colour pairing
PRO: Vintage is IN!
So in the end, because it became increasingly difficult to reproduce or source exact wedding ideas/items from the 1950s, I decided to compromise and have a vintage-inspired wedding, so that I could incorporate both new and old trends and fashions into a (hopefully) beautiful, whimsical, and charming design.
Inspiring Mid-Century weddings:
…because you can’t go wrong with the classics!
Jacqueline Bouvier to John F. Kennedy 1953

Grace Kelly to Prince Ranier of Monaco 1956
Princess Margaret to Lloyd Jones 1960
Are you incorporating any traditions or trends of the past into your wedding?
