If The Shoe (s) Fit…

January 22nd, 2008 @ 1:34 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

Since I will have my first fitting next Saturday for my dress, I called to ask what I should bring with me. Naomi at Blush Couture said any undergarments (a la Spanx, which I’m sure will become my best friend) and my shoes. My shoes… oh my God, I hadn’t really even thought about shoes. Luckily, Mom Hydrangea and I were out on a shopping excursion for wedding things this past weekend, so off we went to look at shoes.

In my previous post I mentioned the pin that I will be wearing in my hair the day of the wedding. It is a beautiful sapphire and diamond heirloom piece that I have admired since I was a little girl. To tie this in, I really wanted navy shoes to go with my dress. I figured it would be no big deal, but Mom H and I had the hardest time finding navy blue shoes that looked appropriate for my dress.

After searching all over the mall, we went into Barney’s and I fell in love with an amazing pair of navy blue shoes. Mind you, these were the only contenders we had found all day. Mom H told me to try them on, and we decided to get them!

So now… the pièce de résistance -

Was finding the perfect shoe hard for you?

(You have no idea how much I dream of Christian Louboutins. Seriously. I have a picture of shoes in my office to keep me motivated through grad school. Once I defend my dissertation, those babies are mine. I hate to say it, but I’m a little envious right now.)

Those are absolutely fab fab fab shoes!

I feel you! The wedding shoes that are my dream shoes are from Louboutin 3 seasons ago. The boutique, Saks, and Barneys were no help.

ooo well…the search continues!

Ooooo pretty - congrats! I broke down and bought a pair of Louboutins as well - with the excuse that I will wear them ALL the time after the wedding… they are the prettiest wine color! Now if they only didnt hurt…

Loubs!! One of my favorite shoe designers. I have a pair and they are beautiful. I love the blue satin, GORGEOUS. I was also on a hunt for wedding Loubs but instead fell in love with a silver satin Gucci pair. Finding the shoes was harder than finding the dress but I am a shoe lover by heart so finding the perfect pair was very important to me.

LOVE THEM!!!
My dress came in but I keep delaying scheduling a fitting because I haven’t had time to even think about shoes. I think I really don’t want to go because I know I will fall in love with super duper expensive shoes and then will be in bad mood when I can’t take them home. My fiance has informed me that since HE has $250K in medical school loans to pay off, I’m not allowed to spend more than $50 on shoes for the wedding.
Phooey.

Shoe shopping in Barney’s? - I’m soooo jealous. I’m having a devil of a time finding shoes, since the perfect pair I THOUGHT I was going to wear, I’ve come to realize will just sink straight into the grass at our ceremony site.

Gorgeous!!! Still looking… fortunately I don’t need them for my first fitting. I’m going to use a pair at the salon that works w/ the hallow to hem of the dress. Any suggestions for finding a cute bridal kitten heel (1.5″)?

GREAT SHOES!

I found these navy bad boys: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBTOX:IT&item=150188828639&_trksid=p3984.cTODAY.m238.lVI

- but they were to dark for me, so I ended up with a pair of light blue and silver Christian Diors…YUM!
