A Chance On A New Favor

January 23rd, 2008 @ 1:17 pm by Mrs. Petunia

The best thing about our original favor idea? Someone else made all the favors: less work for me! Of course, that came with a hefty price tag, one of about $6 a favor: yowza! The ribbons were adorable and the chocolate truffle inside delish, but the decorating piece was a single wine charm — a single wine charm! What the dickens were we thinking? Who would want to take home one random wine charm that wasn’t part of a set?

But we knew we wanted the favors to tie in with our Monopoly theme somehow, and did want to come up with something that wouldn’t be complete trash, so…we started out by contacting Etsy artist Sweet Papery, on the recommendation of Mrs. Violet’s post, and commissioned a custom rubber stamp…

…we purchased some “lucky” Florida lotto scratch-off tickets from our glamorous corner gas station…

Hit up New York’s Paper Presentation by phone for the perfectly sized 2 Pay envelope (but in a lovely pink color they call Pink Feather):

Lay out some classic Monopoly playing tokens to use in lieu of coins to do the scratchin’…

And voila! Our new favors, which will await each of our guests atop his or her fancy flat-folded napkin, are born!

I love our stamp by the way! I love how the curly’s are reminiscent of the ones on our invitation!

Originally, I ordered all the envelopes in Pink Feather, not knowing they also come in a refreshing Citrus Green…and now wonder if the envelope colors should alternate. I’m also thinking of putting stickers inside the envelopes where kids will be sitting (even though we only have a handful). What do you think?

It would be fun if someone really did get lucky and left our wedding with some cash in the pocket, no, as an added treat?

this is an awesome idea! and i’m tickled pink that you’re doing it bc i have been considering doing it myself.

you see, i work for a state lottery, and think this would be a cool little momento to give to guest.

only stickler is, my dad is a minister. i am wondering if some of the people he may invite would be offended in some way…..

hmmmm……

I love it! I also considered the lottery ticket as a possible favor idea, but it didn’t go with our overal Parisien/Asian feel, hehe. Where did you find the charms and how much were they? So adorable!

Cute! I love that you put “Chance” on the envelopes.

I don’t know if most of your guests will know each other, but a cute way to get them mingling could be to have a “group picture” with each different token. So, all the Scottie dogs together, then all the top hats, etc.

On a side note, have you seen these car token cufflinks?:

(I think Mr P said in chat last night that he’s always the car, right?)

Super cute! Love the stamp! I actually attended a wedding where the escort cards had a scratch-off lottery ticket attached, and the inscription, “Wishing you riches from the new Mister & Misses” - I thought it was a neat idea :)

Mrs. Emerald: The original wine charms I think we found at wrapables.com? But the tokens we’ve ordered direct from Hasbro, as replacement pieces…

Bean! I tried to email you but I think I made a mistake writing the address - sorry! TY so much for that photo idea: I LOVE IT! And the cufflinks? I’m getting him the terrier ones, for our little baby Schauz, Niles! Thanks a ton for the link to the top hat last night, too, by the way! I heart Bean!

I don’t think you have to worry too much about the kids having scratchers (as long as their parents would be ok with it of course).

We put them in Easter eggs every year and all the kids in the family go crazy over them!
