Who says bridesmaids have to be monochromatic blobs of color? Who wants to own a hot pink dress anyway (well, I might, but then that brings us back to the you-feel-that-way-because-you’ve-never-been-a-bridesmaid-before-comment). Not only that, but I feel like 90% of bridesmaids dresses are strapless tube tops (could they not have put any thought into a nice sweetheart neckline at the least?), they’re overly shiny (ugh, cheap taffetta), and somehow they’re three to four hundred dollars! What a money maker.
Hello Macys, where a well constructed, totally rewearable dress can run $50-$200. I think that the following two lines: Maggy London, and London Times, are particularly bridesmaid appropriate and I’m excited to see what they’ll have to offer over the next couple seasons.

So why not do prints? This dress, above, I saw at Macys this summer with a palatable price tag of around $60. Here’s my mod side taking over. Maybe I don’t mean “print” so much as black and white mod graphics. So here’s a few things from macys.com that I gathered up over the summer.
I particularly like 7, but perhaps 8 is more bridesmaidy. I also like 1. I find the texture of 12 to be so enticing. 13 through 15 are available in black although I guess I wish they were just a little longer? Macy’s even has bride-worthy dresses at around the $200 mark:
I think my maid of honor and I have some sort of esp - when she commented about posting more dresses, I had been scouring the dot coms for Macys and Nordstrom! So here’s another batch:

I like the ’stuff’ on the bottom of #1, just like this Betsey Johnson number above. I like that #2 reminds me of tapestry for some strange reason, and because of the stiff nature of the fabric, it makes me feel somewhat empowered to actual make it myself. I do like #5.

Enter again my love for b&w patterns (#10)! See how it worked for this wedding, perhaps particularly well because the pattern wasn’t overwhelming and didn’t comprise the entire dress; photo above found at kenziekate.com. I like #9 the best - I like that …… folded action on the skirt. If #1 were jersey knit, I think it’s super cute, and #11 is for sure jersey so hooray for t-shirt fabric? #8 looks like it could be ill-fitting like so many things we’ve tried on, and #10? I’m glad to see there is a lot more online eye candy for dresses besides the big M and the big N - see kenziekate’s bridesmaid posts. Photo montages thanks to the folks at Nordstroms.
