Photobooth Fun!!!

January 24th, 2008 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Robin

The first photos that Mr. Robin and I have from our wedding are from our photobooth. Our photographers set up a backdrop in the cocktail area, and throughout the reception an attendant snapped photos of our guests. I love this because it looks like everyone had fun being goofy!

Mr. Robin’s 92-year old grandfather (who came all the way from Georgia) and his daughters (one of which is Mr. Robin’s mom)

Photobooth Fun!!! : wedding photography portland AnnestephanyaMy lovely sister, who was my MOH, and my close friend and bridesmaid kicking it during the cocktail hour.

I love these pics because it seemed like the reception flew by, but this booth was open for the whole night and everyone could use it. There are pics of groups that we might not have gotten pictures of without it. Not to mention tons of hilarious pics of our 2 and 3 year old nephews jumping into pictures with random people.

I just absolutely love this idea! How many photographers did you have altogether? Was there a dedicated one just for these?

this is a fantastic idea. Our bar will be in a separate room, so would be perfect for such a thing.

I ‘m considering renting a photobooth from a separate company than my photographer.

Although now I’m wondering if this would be some type of conflict of interest?

I am seriously considering this for my wedding, so I have lots of questions for you, Mrs. Robin!

Who did you have taking the pictures? Were they there during most of the cocktail hour? Did you have a sign pointing guests towards this area? What kind of camera did you use? Any information and ideas you have would be wonderful!!

Petunia,

We had 2 photographers and their assistant (who ran the photobooth)

Lee,

They used a single piece of cloth-type backdrop that extended from about 8 feet high at the back then became the floor too. I will send you a photo of the set-up.

Sarah,

The booth was there all night, and as it was open and next to the bar I didn’t have signs or anything, but I did have someone announce it during dinner. I will send you the photo as well, and then you can ask me more questions.

Can you maybe post more info about the logistics of this? The cloth backdrop setting, the signs and stuff that you used?

The day after Thanksgiving my mom and my fiance’s mom both bought photo printers, the kind that you don’t need a computer for where you can just stick in a memory card. So we are going to have those out so people can take pictures and then print the picture out to put into the guest book right there.

I’d love to see how other people set it up for theirs.

I would love to see a picture of this as well, if you don’t mind Mrs. Robin! It really is an amazing idea!

Simply put, it’s NOT an authentic photobooth if there’s an attendant or photographer. No matter what some professional photographer names their camera, tripod and curtain setup — you will NOT have the distinctive, spontaneous and candid photobooth photos of your guests unless it’s an authentic photobooth! Just a suggestion to keep in mind while you’re shopping around… :-)

[...] Of course, my first choice would have been to rent a booth, but with a $5,000 budget for the whole wedding, that was completely out of the question. My photographer didn’t offer a photobooth option, either, so I was out of luck for a booth like Mrs. Robin’s. [...]
