About Mrs. Bubblegum

…But really, it was over a month ago that we started our registry

Despite having gone to the stores and shot the gun-thingy at all the pretty presents, we were nowhere near done with our registry because a) I didn’t want overlap between our two stores b) not everything I wanted was in-store and c) there were randomly, like, 5 coffee-makers and 3 cuisinarts on our Macy’s registry (that coincidentally are in the same section of the store where the woman tried to steal our registry gun - INTERESTING).

So, because I can’t just let anything be easy, I…

1. Made Mr. BG go through the list of “wants” we’d created in excel and add a column of links to our online registries.

2. Procrastinated for about a month, whimpering at the thought of finishing the lists.

3. Devoted 3 solid evenings to checking the links, adding new items, replacing old items, cross-checking the two stores, checking the links, adding new items, replacing old items, cross-checking the two stores, adding new – OKAY, I’ll stop. But the point is, it was a royal pain in my… bum.

AND FINALLY, it is done. Here are some of my faaaavorites:

Cocktail shaker from Target - this thing is COOL, dag nabbit!! Haha, I’m fairly confident most people already realized these existed with recipes on them… but I was just plain amazed.

Weird flatware from Target - I heart this flatware. I hope it’s as pretty in real life as it is online because - I heart this flatware.

Ten Years Later, We Finished Registering. : wedding exeter registry Cs Ff

Little baby cast iron casseroles from Macy’s - Theeeese make me giggle. They’s just little baby casseroles!

Ten Years Later, We Finished Registering. : wedding exeter registry 337966 Fpx

Pretty sheet set from Macy’s - I put WAYYYYY too much bedding on the registry in the first go-round, but I couldn’t take these off because I think they’re super pretty.

I guess the moral of the story is - registering was incredibly HARD - why didn’t anyone tell me it was this hard? Or did I just make too much of it, and most people think it’s fun???

No, I agree, it’s hard. :) We started a couple of months ago, then let it go for quite awhile, but we hope to finish up this weekend, because, um, our wedding is exactly three months from today…to be fair, Crate and Barrel recommended we wait until January because they introduced a bunch of new china. Congratulations on getting it done!!!

ha, ha…I think we are sold a story of how fun it is to register by every chick flick about weddings there is. In my movie, we would go into every store and completely agree on everything we wanted and then the sales lady would show us something even more spectacular ‘in the back’ that she brought out ‘just for us’. We would smile at each other sweetly and then the music would cue…probably to some silly montage music where we would continue to pick up the most lovely linens, kitchen supplies, etc.

The reality was that Mr Corn and I have VERY DIFFERENT taste and while compromise is a great solution, it does end up meaning you don’t always get what you want and usually there is a frustrated fiance somewhere in the mix.

Just wait until the real fun starts after the wedding when you have money you have received from guests, and have to figure out which things from your registry you want to purchase now and which you want to wait on for later :) I will tell you that there was a very complex spreadsheet involved that also calculated all the post-wedding discounts the stores sometimes offer!

No, it’s tiresome-it just seems like it should be fun. By the way, make very sure you register for enough of that flatware-including extra. Target has an annoying way of discontinuing stuff pretty quickly, and if you haven’t gotten enough, you’re out of luck usually. I ended up giving up and selling some dishes on Ebay(not registered for) because I could no longer get them, and I didn’t have nearly enough.

Hmmm … I don’t know. We had fun. I also know that I’m the only one who checks our registry online, so FI doesn’t know that I’ve deleted some of the small appliances he asked for … really, do we need a meat slicer? C’mon.

Basically, we picked out our place settings and then he left it up to me. It makes things easier that way. :)

That is gorgeous bedding!

I’m not looking forward to registering. I think it’s going to be hard to first narrow down what stores (I’d prefer two registries, not even the three everyone seems to have today) and then choosing just one type of everything is going to drive me crazy.

Are you kidding? It’s SO hard. Whittling down your choices, some of them to semi-permanent decisions? We couldn’t do it! We did the honeymoon registry for exactly that reason!

Love your choices, though. Lemme know if you need a housesitter, and specifically, a bedsitter. ;)

you might want to check target’s return policy. I have heard nothing but complaints from my friend that registered there. She ended up with many duplicated and without the gift receipt (that many guests didn’t add) she is pretty much out of luck…

one thing i’d say — go touch and feel things before you register for them. especially linens and silverware. you need to feel the sheets and hold the knive and fork in your hands to feel the weight.

that being said, we put quite a bit of time into our registry and then got hardly anything from it because we only had 43 guests attend our wedding. make sure you really want the things that are on there because you never know who will buy you what.

Um, am I actually supposed to “finish” - as in be done and leave it alone? I change what’s on there all the time :)

Tell me about it… how many hours can one spend in the stores before blood-sugar levels have plummeted to critical levels and both spouses-to-be can’t look at another cutting board or coffee maker for another few weeks? 4 hours yesterday. I don’t think that I’m a picky person but we just can’t seem to find a quilt that I’d want to see spread on our bed. But I think that by checking the Macy’s or Crate&Barrel website every single day there will magically be a new one to choose from.
Best wishes for everyone making these “what do we want?” decisions!
