Clutch It!

January 29th, 2008 @ 5:37 pm by Mrs. Canary

One of the things I’ve resisted purchasing, despite all the eye candy out there, is a clutch. I’ve convinced myself that I don’t need one for the wedding and that someone wonderful will inevitably carry my stuff. With a million things going on that day, I will probably end up losing it. I also normally don’t carry clutches because my purses almost always require some sort of apparatus that attaches to me, otherwise it will be gone in 5 seconds because I will definitely forget it and leave it somewhere.

BUUUUUUT… I discovered these through my Google reader today and I just love them! And it has nothing to do with the fact that the brand (almost) shares my name. They’re all just so cool and tactile. I had checked out some clutches while I was in Hong Kong, but didn’t find anything that wasn’t clustered with crystals all around or really bright and accessorized. These babies from Nelle… well, they’re perfect. Simple, elegant, and modern. I love the contrasting textures.

I heart the contrasting colors of this silk charmeuse Cherub clutch.

I’m quite fond of this one with the brooch detail.

I don’t think the Nelle wedding collection is for sale yet, but the prices for her other bags are under $100. If you don’t find a bag that piques your interest, I’m sure her blog entries will keep you drooling.I might have to cave and order one when they’re available!

How are you toting around your stuff the day of the wedding?

I’m so excited you posted this– I love clutches. I definitely don’t need another one, but I’m going to check out her website right away. Thanks for the find :)

I plan to carry a clutch. I can’t think of where else I could put my lipgloss for touchups. My hairdresser put hers in her bosom when she got married, and just whipped it out everytime the photographer started snapping. I don’t think I want to do that though….

I’m clutching, as well. But only because it’s a great excuse to get a silver Lauren Merkin bag. Booya! I love what you’ve found, too.

another clutcher here, but I might get sneaky and sew in a pocket into my hoop skirt - though what I’ll put in to it…who knows!

The wedding reception I went to last weekend was held in the bride’s backyard. No need to tote anything if your house is right there!

perfect bound

I imagine I’ll buy a clutch as well but let’s face it, my Maid of Honor will probably be carrying it around instead of me. So it better be something as pretty as yours. Actually, that would be a great bridesmaid gift, don’t you think?

i agree! i think they’d make perfect bridesmaids bags. actually i got an email from Laura Nelli (the owner) and she mentioned that the price for the cherub is $84 and the brooch clutch is $145. she’ll do custom colors with orders of 3 or more (which is perfect for bridal parties!) she will have them up for sale any day now!
