Waaaah! Are You Married Already?

No… I’m not married yet. LOL! But it sure looks like it now doesn’t it?

That be my ring guard that Mama CB gifted to me. kiss201 The weather’s been extra cold and I’ve been losing some weight. Mama CB freaked out when she saw how loose my ring was and insisted I had a ring guard… which is totally Cool Beans except I didn’t expect that. She said, you gotta PROTECT yo investment! Well not exactly like that, she more like demanded it in Chinese… especially since she did after all, assist Mr. CB in the purchase, so she was looking out for our best interest. It’s considered an early bday gift I can later wear on my right hand! Woop Woop! I definitely don’t want to resize the e-ring bc when the weather gets warmer, them puppies might plump up like mad, then what? Or what if I put back all my weight and more after the wedding * gasp* shocked024!

It feels tons weird to me that I’m wearing a could-be wedding band giving off the wrong impression. But you know what, it’s totally given me a taste of what it’s going to feel like when we do get married, and I’ll get to wear that extra band and know the feeling of being MARRIED!!!! I gotta say…. I likeeeee likeeeee lots! I can’t wait. I can’t wait!

With the days quickly approaching, Mr. CB and I both really have to start shopping for my wedding band soon. I’ve always always wanted an eternity band - it just ooOOOOzes gorgeous to me. blush033

But most everyone has suggested I get the Half Eternity, if not, a Channel Setting Eternity band since it’s more practical. There’s less likelihood of me losing diamonds from the band and it might be more comfortable on the hand.

My e-ring is an eternity band, so to complete the set, FI is getting another eternity band as my wedding ring, which is really great. Just make sure you really know your size CB, because they are almost impossible to resize. I actually got some sizing beads soldered on the inside of my ring and it helps so much with fit. I don’t even notice them anymore and my ring doesn’t spin around like it used to!

I have a half eternity channel set band. I didn’t want an eternity ring (okay, I totally did until I realized this) b/c with typing I’m constantly banging the undersides of my fingers against the keyboard, desks, etc, and I didn’t want to knock any of the stones loose. I tried on a couple different styles, and channel set looked really nice with my e-ring (a solitaire), so that was the way to go. I love it!

Love the way an eternity band looks, but I’m worried about resizing issues, so I’m just going to get a half-eternity.

mine is an 1.88 mm eternity band by Michael B. I must say I love it and it fits my Ritani e-ring to a T laying flush against it. i’ll prob request another eternity band for our one year anniversary in case I want to wear my wedding band alone that it won’t be too thin with two thin bands together. i always knew i wanted an eternity band so it wasn’t too hard to decide to get one for my wedding band.. =)

Hi Miss CB. I tried on prong set eternity bands for my e-ring and it was very very uncomfortable!! I have tiny hands, my ring size is 4.5 and my palm is about 3 inches across–maybe that has something to do with it? In any case, my e-ring is a band that is prong set across the top, with channel setting down the sides to ALMOST meet at the bottom–there is approx 1 centimeter of plain metal there for resizing due to swelling, gaining/losing weight, etc.
My w-bands–YES, plural!!–are going to be one plain metal band with nothing on it, and one band with a mini row of tiny diamonds channel set around the middle, almost like a thin stripe? That way I get the comfort AND the sparkle ;)

I had my wedding ring custom made (see my post on that here: http://tinyurl.com/2l9t7z) and for me, although I think an eternity band is beautiful to look at, it just made sense to not have the stones go all the way around the ring.

My reasons were a) for comfort and b) for resizing down the road. Let’s face it — what is the chance our finger will be the exact same size for the rest of our lives?? That’s just my 2 cents.

I have an eternity band and I love it. I am not sure why everyone says they are not practical. I agree with futuremrs.taj. If you ring becomes too big you can get a small piece of platinum soldered to the inside of your ring to make it smaller, or beads whichever you choose.

i have a full eternity band and love it.

the sales associate kept at tiffany’s kept trying to convince me to get the half eternity band, but i wasn’t having any of that! i don’t find that it bangs much on the underside, but it does occassionally get snagged by certain sweaters.

i’d recommend getting it a 1/2 size larger if you go with the full eternity. weight gain, pregnancy, age… all play a role in how your ring will fit over the years.

and do your fiance a favor and get one through the following website rather than tiffany’s and get more bling for your buck!

http://thefacetscollection.com/diamond_eternity_bands.cfm?forward=FEB

they’re highly recommended on pricescope and i can vouch for their quality! :)

I just picked out my wedding band this weekend… it’s an eternity band, asscher cut stones (to match my engagement ring), 2.75 ct total weight. The ones in the store were all HUGE (as in, 4 ct total weight) and that was WAY TOO MUCH BLING for me, so we had him custom make a smaller one to see if I would like that (truthfully I would go even smaller but my fiance was happy with the ring as is). As far as it being uncomfortable, it didn’t bother me at all, and I work with my hand significantly more than most (I’m a scientist, so not only do I use my hands, but I have to squish them into nitrile gloves 10 hours per day).
As far as the sizing, he suggested going up 1/4 to 1/2 size compared to my engagement ring, because I’ll wear it on the inside of my finger and the engagement ring will serve as the “ring guard” and as I get older, my fingers will swell more, so it’s better to have it be a bit loose now as opposed to later. Plus, since it’s a full eternity band, it doesn’t matter if it spins — there’s no up side and down side. I just knew I didn’t want a half eternity, because I wear my grand-grandmother’s half eternity ring on my right hand, and that sucker flips upside down ALL THE TIME. It’s actually really tight on my finger and a struggle to take on and off, but even with it being smaller than comfortable, it’s still upside-down every time I look at it.

I am going to go with channel set diamonds, halfway around. This matches my e-ring, which has eight channel set graduated stones in addition to the center stone.

I also have the “ring bumps” which do a really nice job of keeping it from rotating. I don’t know about buying a half size big - for me, a half size is about the difference between fitting when its warm out and losing the ring if my hands are cold. We bought my e-ring the same size as my normal rings, and almost immediately had it sized down a half size and the bumps added.

my e-ring is also an eternity band… and I love it! As any ring it’s gets some time to get used to it, but now I hardly notice it. I have small hands… with a size 4 ring. At night when it gets cold, it’s totally loose (spins around) but when I get hot or in the morning, it’s super tight! soooo it’s actually the perfect size either way. As long as you know your ring size and maybe go a 1/2 up or (+) if you are worried about rpeganancy or whatever… I wouldn’t worry about it!

um… where’s the option for a plain band? I’m not really a flashy type, plus we were on a tight budget, so I just have a plain gold band. Classic, simple and delicate looking, and lets the rock on my e-ring stand out :)

I wnet all out on my wedding band… I couldn’t stand the way one ring looked against my princess cut solitare, so we got a diamond eternity that I wear at the base of my finger, and then my engagement ring, and that is all sandwiched under a half diamond eternity - It really balances out the look of the ring. single bands were really making my ring look lopsided… The only question now is do I get the finish of my engagement ring brushed to lessen the shine???, I suppose I could always polish it back out if I don’t like the brushed look.

Thank you, kerry! I was wondering why it was assumed that a wedding band would have lots of diamonds in it too =P We haven’t gotten our bands in them, but they will have a custom engraved design, with no stones.

I have a half eternity and second facets (recommended by sarah above). Both our bands are from there (we actually went to the office on 47th) and Issac is great and their prices were fabulous!

Miss CB, I was also lusting after an eternity band as my wedding band as well. But in the end I couldn’t do it. 1) everyone and their mother told me that it was impractical for everyday wear 2) they ARE impossible to resize pretty much and I would be devastated if I couldn’t wear it anymore 3) there is zero room for engraving and we really wanted to have something written inside.

But I haven’t given up hope…I’ll own one of those puppies someday. Can anyone say Anniversary/Birthday/Christmas gift?! :D

I ended up getting a beautiful band from Niwaka - I believe it’s a half channel set band but it’s diagonal across. I will be able to pick it up next week! :D

I have an eternity wedding band to match my engagement ring which also has an eternity band and two side diamonds against the center diamond (I couldn’t decide on whether I wanted an eternity band or sidestones, so I got a ring with both!). Both are designed by Tacori.

I really wanted a set so that the wedding band matched my engagement ring. I love both so much! I did read about how impractical it is to have a full eternity band, but I say go with what makes you the happiest — You only get one wedding band!

hi cb!! i have a channel set with 11 diamonds and i like it since it rest smoothly with my e-ring (princess cut). i also have an full eternity band for my right hand but honestly i never ever wear it cuz the inside hurts my fingers and since i’m a pianist i can’t wear much jewelry anyway. i think you should get whatever you like, half or full, channel or not it will be beautiful cuz you will are. the diamond just accentuates your prettiness :)

Mine is channel-set and half-eternity. I have turned it around to the underside of my hand to see what it would look like if it were full-eternity, and I think it would be wasteful. Not only would it get dirty more easily, since you use the underside of your hands more than the top, but nobody ever sees the underside of your hand, anyways. You don’t sit around with your palms facing upwards…at least, I don’t! :)

I highly recommend the channel-set half-eternity wedding band. Everything stays put, it’s just as gorgeous (again, nobody can see the underside of your hand), and hey, it’s much cheaper! Mr. CB will appreciate that! :)

You have to be careful getting a full eternity band. My friend got one and then her fingers swelled so she can’t wear it anymore and it can’t be sized. She had to buy a new wedding band that was channel set half eternity.

I have two full eternity bands. My man was not going to buy me half eternity bands, he insisted that I needed the diamonds so that when I wave bye at people they can see the sparkle. hehe.

Since I wear 3 rings, my jeweler had it sized a .5 size up. So my e-ring was a 3.5 but now all 3 rings are a size 4 because he took into consideration weight gain, pregnancy, etc… When I wear the e-ring alone, it is pretty loose, so I wear all 3 now, even though we’re not married yet.

Oh, and I agree that full eternity bands can be uncomfortable but mine is a 2mm shared setting so it is really small and not uncomfortable at all. You just need to try on various widths to see what works with your hands.

Here’s a picture of my bands

I have the 2.2mm Tiffany eternity band that I’ve been wearing at night since FI has been out of town. hehe.

I can’t help it and I wanted to “make sure” that I was comfortable with the full eternity band. I can’t say that I’m totally comfortable with the prongs poking my other fingers (my e-ring is a comfort fit). I’ve woken up with the ring being a little snug but am worried that if I got a 0.5 bigger size, it would rub my other fingers even more so.

Wow, this is a very interesting thread! I always wanted a half diamond eternity, but when I tried them on at my jewelers, they looked awkward- almost square, in that the diamonds went straight across and then immediately down - there was no curve in the ring. I don’t know if that is explained right but it didn’t look good. The plain band looked like an afterthought with my e-ring, so I ended up getting an eternity ring. I was hesitant due to the cost and unnecessary-ness (heh) of diamonds all the way around, plus comfort… but it’s ordered now so here’s hoping it’s perfect! And I do have to admit it’s guh-or-geousss!
here’s an image of my e-ring just to show ya what I’m working with:

I was worried about the same things, plus the fact that my jeweler warned me about carrying luggage and things with it (could pop out some diamonds).

But, i was worried a 1/2 one would slip around (which I’ve been warned about by many), so I created my own design– a 3/4 one.

The back (or 1/4 of the band) is platinum and the rest of the band are diamonds. This way, when I travel (mainly for work), I don’t worry about losing diamonds carrying my roll-on and also, if I need to resize it, it will be a lot easier!

HTH someone!
