I Have A Confession

January 31st, 2008 @ 6:28 pm by Mrs. Butterscotch

I have very few bad habits. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I always wear my seat belt. But I do love television! Yup that is my confession. I love all sorts of shows, but I have a real weakness for reality shows. You name it, I have probably watched it (no really just try to stump me! :) ).

One of my regular shows, The Real Housewives of Orange County, spent the season following around Lauri, one of the housewives, as she prepared for her wedding.

Her wedding to George was really spectacular. But what I really liked was it was her third wedding and I think his second, but they didn’t really stick to any “second time around rules”. In fact I think the wedding they had was really just for them. It was fun watch her pick out a dress because she met with Austin Scarlett who was a designer on Project Runway and now is a designer for Kenneth Pool bridal. Ahhh, I love when my reality shows cross paths!

Here is the bride and bridesmaids together. I love the green!

The wedding was held on their property. The ceremony was in the garden and a large tent was used for the dinner. Her florist made use of all the greenery already around the property.

Can you imagine having the top designers help your personally find your dream dress!?! Well Lauri had Austin’s help in finding the dress that was perfect for her! I think he did a good job!

I love the dresses- both bridesmaids and bride. Looks like a gorgeous wedding!

I’m a sucker for this show too! Partly because my sister in law used to live in Coto, but mainly for laughs! :)

Her wedding was just magical.

I love the BM dress color — such a vibrant fresh green.

really? I kind of thought it looked like a picture perfect textbook wedding, but not a lot of personality or soul. I didn’t like it at all. I love the show, though.

Wow–that’s my wedding dress!

Too funny I tried to post a picture of these dresses earlier today , after watching the show I had an indecisive moment where I wanted to change the color of bridesmaid dresses to a similar shade of green from my original choice of navy … I still cant decide !

I really loved the tent they set up for the dinner reception (gorgeous!) and the string of flowers & crystals hanging from trees during the ceremony. The trees resembled weeping willows, but the overall look was so magical! In fact, if I have an outdoor ceremony, I’ve decided to copy that idea. :)

I like the bridesmaid dresses…but yeah if I was a guest at a 3rd wedding as extravagant as that I’d probably roll my eyes. Especially if I had sent gifts for the other two marriages. I can see where a second time around wedding is still big, but third…it’s just so much more elegant when they do it understated.

Caoline-Yes the tent for dinner was so pretty! I couldnt find a picture that would really do it the proper justice it deserved!

I love the show, and Lauri’s wedding was beautiful, but I agree that it came across as a little cookie cutter. Also the fact that they had such a traditional, blow-out affair for her 3rd and his 2nd wedding struck me as a little crass.

ooh i love the BM dresses! where are they from?? :)

It looks like she took ideas from Avril Lavigne’s wedding and Tori Spelling’s first wedding.

I love that I am not the only one that watches the show :) I kept catching this episode but the last 30 of it so I missed her darn wedding each time. I am glad you posted pics though :) I do so love those bm dresses, I wonder who made them, I am sure they are out of my price range though.

I haven’t had a chance to catch the wedding episode yet, but I think I heard her say last night on the confessions episode that the wedding probably cost between $300,000 and half a million. Yowza! Did it look that expensive?

I have to admit both Mr. H and I are addicted to the show. The wedding was beautiful. Petunia - I think a lot of their costs came from bling (but the whole thing was a little over the top and I loved it)!

Glad to hear I am not the only one who relishes in all the reality shows. Lauri’s wedding was beautiful (the tree and the tent were my faves) but also overly extravagant I thought.

yah i think it def looked like it cost that much - thats how much i woulda estimated. they had to bring everything in since it was in their backyard.

I too am addicted! Or obsessed, whichever word you prefer with that show!

Lauri took a lot of slack for going to big with her wedding–it is her 3rd time around afterall. There is something about Lauri and George that just seems like they are all about flaunting their riches and it feels very obvious and a bit obnoxious.

As long as I’m on a roll, what did everyone think of her dress? I thought it was pretty but given there was ‘no budget’ I expected something more. And the the dress wasn’t really right for her body shape. It made her look wide in the hips and she has a fab figure! Am I being unfair?

i love this show! and am super addicted to it. when i saw lauri’s wedding i was completely “wowed”! it was so beautiful…the flowers, the tent, the dress, the lighting, and the crystals everywhere. i thought she did an amazing job. on the reunion show she said it cost between $250,000 and $500,000. now thats what i call a budget!

i too must confess, i love reality shows. its horrible i know. my favorite part was the tree they got married under! it was so gorgeous with the flowers and crystals hanging down! makes me want to get married outside!

sally says:

i don’t like the dress. and i do love the show, but only because i think the woman are vapid and hilarious in their self involvement.

SanFran Bride says:

Ok so I have seen this episode several times now. I really really want to know what type of water they served at the wedding. The little flavored glass bottled ones. Anyone? Anyone? Please help.

24.
KNW says:

I am, sadly, somewhat addicted to this show, too. It’s my one guilty pleasure. Like Sally, I find amusement in the vapid, self-involved lives the women lead. And wowzers - what an extravagant wedding!! Very lavish, very over-the-top, very DHOC and very Lauri. And I agree - I wasn’t a fan of her dress and don’t think it flattered her figure well. But that tent and all the flowers — so pretty!

Glad so many of you watch the show too. On a non related Lauri comment. I don’t really like Quinn on the show. I like all the other ladies. I should have done a post about who is your favorite housewife :)

obxbride says:

I thought the wedding was straight out of a fairytale! Perhaps the personal details were left out as to appeal to all viewers. Does anyone have close-up pictures of the hanging flowers? I’d love to have them at my wedding. Also, I saw similar knock-off crystals in the Target Dollar Spot about a month ago but hesitated to buy them. Has anyone seen these at an inexpensive price?

27.
L says:

Haha, well then, Miss Butterscotch, I can answer that I LOVE Lauri! She’s so beautiful! …for a “housewife”, you know. And she seems down-to-earth enough (I think). I used to like Jo too when she was on the show but she was so bratty!

Mrs. Butterscotch says:

obxbride: try looking on lauriwaring.com or bravo.com for the hanging flowers. I saw a picture of two of them but they didnt have enough detail for me to highlight in this post.

Ok my favorite housewife is Jeanna. I think she has really worked hard on her body this year and it shows! that other blond one that just turned 40 is growing on me, I didnt like her at first. I did like Jo, but I can say I dont really miss her on the show.

29.
PamS says:

My favorite is Jeana, too.

Vicki must be the most obnoxious woman on the planet but I can’t stop watcher her so I guess that makes for good TV.

Mrs Butterscotch I totally agree, Quinn is not a good fit for the show. You can tell none of the other housewives are happy about her joining the mix. They are so passive agressive around her!

Cynthia Oliviers says:

I was totally inspired to add crystals to my own wedding theme using the crystals and trees so I went online to start searching.

I saw the most amazing crystal wedding trees that I can even afford at cristalier dot com. They are amazing! I will use these to carry the theme inside the church.

I also found all the same crystals used on Lauri Waring wedding hanging in the trees.

I figure I can create the same look for my late spring wedding by hanging strands of crystals from the trees for about $6.00 each and then the end crystals for 1.00

My budget in crystals will be about $300.00

I can’t wait to get them!
