Before our trip to Hong Kong, I was told by many people to go check out the wedding mall.
What?! There’s a wedding mall?!Oh yes, in Hong Kong, there’s a whole mall dedicated to wedding stuff.
Why isn’t there one in the US? Beats me - there should be wedding malls everywhere!
Anyway, at the news of the the existence of this wedding mall, I felt obligated to go. After we finished touring for the day, I dragged Mr. Toucan and some others on to the subway to go here:

Shops for dresses, shoes, invitations, photography, travel agencies, make-up artists… so on and so on. If it was wedding related, it was there. Five floors filled with wedding goodness.
Like I said, why don’t they have this in the US? Seriously, it would make things SO much easier!
Anyway, as much as Mr. Toucan didn’t want to go to the wedding mall, I think he really had a good time! I think it partially had to do with me not really buying anything (the only thing I had purchased was our guest book/signing cloth). It partially had to do with the fun toys he found.
Mom Toucan and I were looking at hairpins, and all of a sudden, I see Mr. Toucan speeding around the corner with a big goofy smile on his face.
Him: Hey, Miss Toucan! What are those stuffed dolls for? (pointing to a shop with tons and tons of dolls on the wall)
Me: Oh, people decorate the wedding car with them.
(visual for you):
Him: (really excited) Oh. Okay. Are we going to get them?
Me: I wasn’t really planning on it, why?
Him: Oh. Because I found the MOST AWESOME ones EVER. (at this point he’s grabbing my hand and dragging me down the hall)*****we arrive at the shop*****
Him: (SUUUPER excited now) LOOK!!! MARIO AND PRINCESS PEACH!
*****he sees me not super excited like him*****Him: Well, of course we’ll find a bigger Princess Peach. (Princess Peach is about half the size of Mario - if even that)
Him: (to my mom) Can you ask the lady about the dolls?***** In Chinese*****Mom T:Do you have these dolls in the same size?
Shoplady: No, that’s how they come. They are just like that (shows us a picture of the Mario and Princess on a car)
Mom T: But, how come? Mario’s so much bigger.
Shoplady: (in a very straight face, not joking) Mario is bigger because he just ate the mushroom.
Um… okay…. riiiiiight.
I broke the bad news to Mr. Toucan. I could tell he was a little bit saddened (figures, all the things he likes best about wedding planning have had to do with toys and/or video games). Despite this and my attempts to get him to buy a Chinese groom’s outfit, Mr. Toucan surprisingly had a really good time at the wedding mall! It ended up being kind of educational for all of us to see all the little details that go into Chinese weddings.
Was there anything wedding-related that your groom surprisingly enjoyed?
