Taking A Leap

As I’ve discovered since I first started planning, there are a lot of crazy traditions/superstitions when it comes to getting married.

When not wedding planning, I'm playing with our dog and 4 cats, Ebay shopping, or watching too much TV (often simultaneously!).

How Does This Dog Thing Work, Exactly?

Meet Zoe. Our ring bearer.

Zoe_1yr

Zoe is 14 months old, and the love of our lives. She adores everyone in the world, perhaps because she’s been fawned over by strangers from the moment she first put her pointy snout out into public. Our main pastimes seem to be Walking the Sheltie, Playing Fetch/Soccer with the Sheltie, Hanging out with the Sheltie at the Coffee Shop … you get the idea.

Now It REALLY Feels Official

February 29th, 2008 @ 3:48 pm by Miss Hydrangea

It finally sunk in that we are getting married because OUR ENGAGEMENT PICS ARE UP! After rescheduling due to bad weather, we finally got to take our pics last weekend with the awesome Cesar Perez. We had a really fun time walking around through the Deep Ellum and Arts District areas of Dallas.

The teasers were posted today on our wonderful photographer’s blog. Here are a few, but please visit the Perez Photography blog to see more (and some of their other amazing work)!

I can’t wait to see them all!

Stress The Dress

February 29th, 2008 @ 3:17 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Wednesday, February 27, 2008.  A day that will go down in history.  The day that Miss Penguin LOST her appetite.

I was born hungry. While savoring my breakfast, I’m already thinking about what’s for lunch, and eventually, dinner. I have the appetite of a grizzly bear after a long winter’s nap.

But Wednesday was different. It was the day of truth. You see, my lovely and knowledgeable bridal consultant suggested that I buy the sample size that I had originally tried on of my dress. Only the sample size was a tad bit small. “Five pounds equals one inch… that’s what you need to lose,” she suggested. And against every piece of advice I’ve ever read saying it was an absolute no-no to buy a dress smaller than your real size, I agreed. Five pounds! Piece of cake!

Yeah… not so much. In the 3 months since purchasing the smaller-than-it-should’ve-been dress, I followed a lackluster “no snacks policy” during the weekdays and a uninspired commitment to hitting the gym 3 days a week. Meh.

Real Weddings: Nicole & Kent Part IV

February 29th, 2008 @ 2:45 pm by Real Weddings

This is the final installment of the gorgeous wedding of Nicole & Kent! (Part I, II, III)

Engagement Photographer: Amaris Cavin– A+
Since we knew our theme was a dramatic departure from a “regular 2007 wedding,” we wanted to get our guests in the time warp mood a little early. Thus, we took our engagement portraits in vintage clothes on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. My husband is in the Navy and loves boats, ships, etc., so the Queen Mary was his idea. My friend Amaris, who was also one of my bridesmaids and is a professional photographer, took the pictures and, well, the pictures speak for themselves. She specializes in photographic storytelling using children’s portraits.

We loved the vintage backgrounds (we were wearing vintage clothing too!). Basically she is talented and SO awesome!
