The Bride Gets Dressed

February 3rd, 2008 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Onion

After I gave my girls their gifties, it was really time to get dressed! In fact, our photographer’s husband popped by my room to see how we were doing to discover a bride NOT dressed and that Mr. Onion was dressed and ready for me. Great things come to those who wait, right? For most of the week the weather forecast had called for rain on our wedding day. I brought cute pink galoshes and hoped for the best. Imagine my surprise when I saw the forecast that morning.

Mostly Cloudy - High of 82 degrees!

I got my dress ready in a quiet moment. With me in my room — my mom, my three bridesmaids, my photographer, and my videographer, Wes Jones. It was quite a “full house” but we made it work.

My Cynthia Rowley Trilogy shoes were waiting for me! These were a gift from Mr. Onion’s best friend/GM’s wife. We are all quite close — this was a really thoughtful gift.

When I heard that our florist had delivered our flowers, I asked one of my bridesmaids to run downstairs and bring my bouquet up — I just couldn’t wait any longer. Here is where I saw it for the first time — It was love at first sight. I almost cried it was so perfect for me! I am half dressed here in my long line bra from Bra Tenders in NYC.

When I started to put my dress on I realized the strap tabs that hang the dress needed to be cut out. The last thing you want is a strap sticking out of your dress driving you nuts and ruining your photos! Note: Keep them and safety pin them on later so you can hang your dress back up.

My mom was so excited and just wanted to be helpful, but I just needed calm support from my bridesmaids. One of them saw this on my face and jumped right in to get my dressed.

My veil was two tiers and elbow length so we thought we’d give the blusher a try. I had decided earlier that I didn’t know how I felt about this so I would go with my gut on the morning of the wedding.

We decided better to have the veil be a nice accent than to cover my face.

A last minute lipstick touch up, a moment with my girls and I was ready to see Mr. Onion. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. I was so calm it was almost strange. I’m not saying I wasn’t excited to see Mr. Onion, but I was just enjoying each part of the process and I don’t think the magnitude of the day had hit me yet.

I love it! I am thinking of wearing a tea length dress also…I love to see that someone else has done it too. How tall are you? I am not tall, so I am worried about it possibly making me look squatty.
