About Mrs. Daffodil

It started with a few innocent glances, little things that would catch my eye. Little by little, I began indulging in the eye candy more and more. Before I knew it, every time I walked by, I couldn’t help by run my fingertips across ever so gently. And now that I’m about to tie the knot, well, this love affair has only gotten worse…!

My Love Affair With All Things Paper : wedding invitations los angeles Z130020 sugarpaper letterpress cherryblossom 36

Yes it’s true - As far back as I can remember, I’ve had an obsession with all things paper. Stationery, invitations, you name it. I’m serious. I have boxes and boxes of invitations in my room, in my old basement, in storage, that I have received and collected throughout the years. Every time I visit a craft store, I can spend hours looking through all the different types, patterns, textures. And every time I get a wedding invitation in the mail, or perhaps a good ol’ handwritten letter on some beautiful stationery (more and more of a rarity in these days of text messages and blackberries), I must confess I get a little jolt of delight in adding it to my collection!

“Um…but it’s just paper.”

Yes! I don’t know what it is, but there is just something so personal and expressive about paper, which itself is a vehicle of expression. The color, the texture, the weight, and all its other characteristics all convey a little bit about our personalities and our feelings. And hey, it carries our thoughts, our reflections, our wishes!

Anyway, to get to my point… Now that it is finally our turn to create invitations, I am just absolutely indulging in this design process! I absolutely love designing invitations, which I have done for some of my friends. And the first step in our design process was choosing our paper.

After months of ordering paper samples, visiting scrapbook stores, and perusing websites, we have finally settled on and ordered our materials. Now it is time for the actual production! I will post up the final product in a few weeks, once the invitations are mailed and our guests have received them! We are definitely going the DIY route, and I can’t wait to share with you how they turn out!

We ended up choosing the 160g Luxe Glass Text from Paper Source and metallic cardstock in Spring Green and Bronze from bluedotpapershop. The Luxe Glass is a cream color with a very subtle tint of pastel green. Perfect for our spring wedding! And the Spring Green metallic cardstock at bluedotpapershop was the only one I could find in the right shade. Also, I just want to mention that bluedotpapershop is very affordable and has wonderful and fast service, and that you can order samples of all of their paper! I ordered a bunch of samples of their different papers, and the best part is, shipping for samples is only $1 flat.

Anyway, since I won’t be revealing my invitations until later, let me just leave you with some eye candy. These are some stationery and invitation inspirations. I say “inspiration” because as much as I am crazy over these, I’m afraid I can’t afford some of them, at least not for now. But hey, a little lusting never hurt anyone, right? (Well, at least, not when it comes to paper smiley1094).

First, some beautiful stationery from Sugar Paper, which is the credit to the photo posted above. I stumbled upon Sugar Paper by accident a couple years ago one day during brunch. I was meeting some friends at Clementine in Century City and this little store was right next door. Given my obsession, I couldn’t help but walk in. Check these out…

All of this eye candy below can be purchased at Sugar Paper, one of my favorite stationery shops, which is also frequented by the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, and Marcia Cross!

And below are some gorgeous invitation inspirations and stationery sets from Moments of Color Design, a stationery shop based in Australia… and yes, they do ship to the U.S.!! I looked into purchasing from them, but they were a little bit over my budget. They definitely do have some of the prettiest designs that I’ve seen though!

When I was a bridesmaid, I thought my bride was crazy with her paper addiction. Now I have gone to the dark side. I am in looking for a Gucco machine now!!!

Oh I totally understand– I love/obsess over all things paper too. Stationery stores are my weakness– I seem to need an unlimited amount of note cards. My wedding stationery was a big splurge, but worth every penny because of how happy it’s made me. I can’t wait to see your DIY invitations– I know they’ll be beautiful!!!

ME TOO! i have a whole container full of stationary, a lot of Sanrio still too. LOL! But i’ve totally collected and still have every piece of letter dated way when stored in a boxes and boxes. It’s sad but I have to let some of them go with the move …. It’s just too much now! I have a weakness for stationary, it’s so much more personal, I buy everytime I see something I like. It’s an illness I tell ya.

I’m not even closet–my scrapbooking addiction (thanks to all the fun paper!) transferred strait to invitations and wedding paper. ;-) I was happy to be the first in our circle to have letterpressed invites–no one had seen them before and I has inherently sharing my love of paper.

I have also loved all things paper from a very young age! I remember being nine and persuading my mom to let me wander into stationery stores we passed by. I haven’t gotten to invites yet, but thus far Paper Source has been my greatest weakness! Thanks for the eye candy!

i really like letterpress in nice thick textured paper. that’s about as far as i go in terms of any paper obsession. i did become more paper savvy when making my own wedding invitations. the world of paper is wider and deeper than i ever realized!
