About Mrs. Toucan

Sad Face, Happy Face

February 5th, 2008 @ 11:27 am by Mrs. Toucan

Beantown 0, Big Apple 1.

It was a sad night in Toucanland. And a happy one for the 95% of football fans (I am well aware of the hatred towards Boston sports).

Sunday night, we held a small football party. We were really loud. And then, at the end, really quiet. After all our guests left, I sadly started cleaning up. Mr. Toucan got up and walked to the bedroom. I assumed he went to quietly sulk by himself.

A couple minutes later he emerged - like this:

The boy sure does know how to put a smile on my face! We both really love Boston sports, but he is the bigger Pats fan, and I am the bigger Sox fan. So, while the sting from probably one of the most disappointing losses ever is still present, the coming of the baseball season alleviates some of the pain. :)

This picture is priceless:

(Mr. Toucan posing with a “disappointed” Sister Toucan)

I literally laughed for a full 10 minutes straight after I took this picture. So, even though the my beloved Patriots aren’t perfect, it’s the little things like this that make me realize even more that my beloved Mr. Toucan is (to me).

Awww Toucan… If it makes you feel any better, Mr. Canary is a Patriots fan living in NYC. He was definitely feeling the sting! I told him that there’s always next year!

At least you got a good picture out of it! :)

I guess we have to let some other parts of the country win something sports related.

Viva Red Sox Nation!

Make sure to thank MN sports teams for developing and giving Boston fans the Big Ticket, Randy Ma, Big Papie, Laurence etc. Seriously, it stinks loosing all those great players!!

I’m so ready for baseball season! I love baseball but couldn’t care less about football. I totally sympathize with your really loud and then really quiet Super Bowl party though - it was the same way for us with the Bears last year! Just depressing. It was kind of nice not to have any stake in it this year - I enjoyed the party a lot more that way! :)

Sorry, Ms. Toucan. I wish I could feel sorry for you, but as a NY fan living in Boston as few years ago it was insufferable. That being said, the Patriots are still a good team and you should be proud of them. GO GIANTS!

Amy lucky you!!!! I stayed home from work to watch the parade on the NFL network. My dad took me into the city to watch the Rangers parade in 94. I miss NY!!

Thanks ladies :)
I’m over it. After all that’s what happens in Boston - the times you actually are expected to win you don’t. I’d much rather us be the underdog.

Carib queen, thanks for the classy comment. :) I am really proud of our team. We were on step short of perfection, but we were pretty damn good along the way. Congrats to your Giants - they deserved to win.

I’m a little jealous! My fiance couldn’t speak for a while after the game! Though, we did whip out the calendar to count the days til spring training… but still, such a depressing end to a Sunday night!

now that football is officially over [yay giants! i am not a fan of the new england area teams so i’ll root for anyone playing against them. haha] i’m more than geeked for baseball to start. too bad the bf is not so geeked. this is the beginning of the end until november rolls around and returns me to him. it’s gotta be hard being the non-sport loving half of a duo.

I’m a Patriots fan in NYC- the fiance is a Giants fan. I’m sure you can imagine the range of emotions in our household Sunday night….

I say our TWO world series titles in the last 5 years beats anything ANY New York sports team has on us. GO PATS and GO SOX.

The Celtics will be next…mwhahah!

As I have a particular LOATHING for Tom Brady (b/c he’s a scum bag, not b/c he’s a Pat), I was very happy with the result.

I am disappointed that his a-little-too-cocky-in-advance girlfriend Giselle is apparently reneging on her promise to “run naked through Mid Town NYC” if the Giants won. Maybe she’s learned an important lesson about consorting with the devil, but I kinda doubt it.

Glad Mr. Touc could laugh in the face of adversity– it’s an important life skill and one that bodes well for the Toucans future! :)
