What’s He Called? Ring… Um?

February 5th, 2008 @ 5:45 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

We’ve had it planned since a while ago, but we finally asked our ring attendant to honor us in keeping the rings. Ring attendant sounded odd, just because he’s no little ringbearer - he’s Mr. CB’s 20 something younger brother.

We really wanted his younger brother to be a part of the wedding. But seeing as we also had really close friends that we wanted as a part of the wedding party, we wanted to give him a role that was important to us that he could take part in. Therefore, we asked him to hold the rings for us the day of. When the officiant asks for the rings, he will stand up and hand them to the officiant. Yeahs….

Now for the program… what do I call thee?

I tossed out “Lord of the Rings” vs the “Ring Keeper.” laughin080

You got something betta, toss it at me. Smooches. shy07

I’m not big on sticking to tradition but I have to say that ‘ring bearer’ is still a very appropriate title even when they come in the older version! While the role is usually filled by the mini’s, the title refers to the job and not the age. Friends of ours have gotten married with no children in the wedding party, but still had multiple flower girls and a ring bearer. I don’t think anyone found it odd. Of course, if you’re going for funny (which we’re doing as well), it’ll be hard to steer clear of LOTR references. :)

My grandfather was our ring bearer - he didn’ care to change the title because of his age.

haha lord of the rings…that’s awesome! hmmm ring leader? “w(r)ing man”? (i was trying to make it like “wingman” but that didn’t really work haha). what about just “groom’s attendant” or something?

Ring Fellow? Bro-Ring? Brother-Ring-Law? Wed-ring Coordinator? Rocky & Bullringle?

Nope, I have NOTHING to offer on this one.

I do think that Ring Bearer or Ring Attendant would be just fine. :)

If you’re not going to use “ring bearer”, I really like your idea of “Lord of the Rings.” When I read that, I thought, “Freaking sweet!”

I had my sister as my “Honorable Flower Matron”…she tossed out a few petals that’d been hidden behind her bouquet when she came down the aisle.

I like Lord of the Rings!

My sister had our brother (who is 25) as the ‘ring bearer’… no one thought it was wierd that I know of…

Ring Bearer would work no matter the age because in reality, they are in fact the bearer of the rings, it shouldn’t matter how old they are.

I think you could list it as “Presentation of the Rings…… Brother CB” i.e. list the action and the performer of the action instead of a title.

Just make sure that when the officiant asks for the rings, he stands up and says “my precious…” just like Golum does. LOL!
