“Mr. & Mrs. Dahlia’s Fun Day!”

February 6th, 2008 @ 5:07 pm by Ms. Dahlia

We were out to dinner this past weekend with some friends of ours, and the topic of our upcoming wedding came up.They decided that we are not having a wedding, but rather are having “Mr. and Miss Dahlia’s Fun Day!”

Necessities for “Mr. and Miss Dahlia’s Fun Day!” include the following:
Mr. and Mrs. Dahlia's Fun Day! : wedding Cotton
Cotton Candy

Mr. and Mrs. Dahlia's Fun Day! : wedding Moonwal
Moonwalk

Mr. and Mrs. Dahlia's Fun Day! : wedding Balloon
Balloon Animals

Mr. and Mrs. Dahlia's Fun Day! : wedding Funnel
Funnel Cakes and Elephant Ears

Mr. and Mrs. Dahlia's Fun Day! : wedding Dunkta
Dunk Tank
- imagine the “trash the dress” possibilities!

Other necessities would be pony rides and a petting zoo.

The honest truth is, for some time we did speculate how all of this would work for our hotel ballroom reception- and we decided that the ponies might have some difficulty with the stairs. Nevertheless, it was fun to think about “Mr. and Miss Dahlia’s Fun Day!” in place of the formal reception that we’ve got planned.

What does your “alternative universe” reception look like?

Yay for having a fun day! We did too with the caricature artist. If I could throw another big party (not necessarily a wedding), it would be a masquerade ball. I’ve always wanted one of those. It’s on my life’s to-do list. :)

I agree with Angel! I love to dress us “costumey dress” and so I would choose a theme where my guests could go all out crazy. And wear glitter. And fake eyelashes.

My friend actually had a formal ballroom reception with a balloon guy that walked around to each table and made stuff out of balloons. It was a huge hit!

We’ve dubbed ours “Megan and Dom’s Super Happy Fun Day”. We were very tempted to buy the URL for our website but chickened out.

I always thought cotton candy and ballrooms went hand in hand… :)

I wanted a wedding that had a more ‘carnival’ feel, it didn’t come through, though.

As for ‘alternate universe’, when I watch Harry Potter I always want a wedding reception in the Hogwarts Great Hall with floating candles, long dark tables, and a bewitched ceiling. Perfect for a wedding.

We are totally having a cotton candy machine at our wedding - it’s already booked and everything. Picture it: Cotton candy trees on an already amazing candy buffet table. Aw yeah!!

My fiance’s requests included a pair of white tigers at the entrance.

We looked into a moonbounce & inflatable twister for our reception. Too expensive. We are having Elvis come sing instead.
