About Mrs. Cream Puff

Hello Out There!

February 7th, 2008 @ 4:56 pm by Mrs. Cream Puff

Hi! I’m Miss Cream Puff!

I’m feeling a lot of pressure to make this first entry super awesome. After all, you only get one chance to make a first impression, right? And of course, I want to make a good one. I could start by telling you any of a number of things. I could tell you about the way Mr. Cream Puff proposed to me, but I kind of feel like saving that story for later. I could tell you why I chose “Cream Puff” over all the other names I could have chosen, but that seems like kind of a boring topic (mostly because it’s a very short story!). Heck, I could even start detailing the numerous DIY projects I’ve started and half-completed. But for some reason, I just feel like rambling a little. So maybe I’ll just tell you about Mr. Cream Puff and I.

Let’s see, where to start. Well, most obviously, Mr. Cream Puff and I are inter-racial. Mr. Cream Puff is Chinese, and I’m Jewish. Our cultures are very important to both of us, so we’ll be incorporating both of them into our wedding. And speaking of incorporating both of our cultures, both of our last names are linked to our cultures and neither of us wanted to give them up– so we’re both going to hyphenate (yes, Mr. Cream Puff is changing his name! I’m totally proud of him).

Hmm, what else? Okay, confession: we are really dorky at heart. Although Mr. Cream Puff would be mortified to know I’m telling you all this, we met on the Internet. I am personally not ashamed of this fact, but I think he wishes we had a better story. In fact, I think he’s secretly hoping we can go the rest of our lives with people thinking we met “through friends” (he’s actually muttering to himself right now, “that’s a good story, ‘through friends,’ I think we should just say that.” What a weirdo! Tons of people meet online.). Let’s see, what else. Oh. We’re head-over-heels for our pets. We have four cats (Peete Tails, Gwynnie, Elvis Purrsley and Dr. Miles) and a dog (Lulabelle). Yup, it’s a nice little menagerie we’ve got here.

I work part-time at Paper Source while I start my own Illustration business (yay for the employee discount while we’re planning our wedding, huh?!). Mr. Cream Puff works as a Merchandise Planner for a big clothing retailer, but is starting his own business as well. :)

So yeah. I’d say that’s a pretty good introduction to who we are as people. I am very excited to be a bee and to join the hive, and I’m definitely looking forward to sharing my wedding plans with you all! Here’s to getting to know one another! :)

That’s so cool that your fiance’s meeting you half-way with your last names! Very modern of him. And yeah, um, the Paper Source thing? Prepare to be stalked.

Can’t wait to see your artistic creativity. :)

Welcome!
My friend met her husband online too. They tell people they met at a “Cookie shop” - as a little nod to the computer beginning.

We will also have a total of four cats and a dog together, and are absolutely mad for our domestic livestock. My cats are awfully nice to his toy poodle, who is really timid. (Integrating his cat is going to be another story - we have our fingers crossed.) Welcome aboard, and can’t wait to hear all the stories!

Welcome!

YAY to many things: you being Jewish, him being Chinese; hyphenating the last name; meeting online; working at Paper Source! I am none of the above, but think all are cool. Also, your picture is super cute.

Haha. Men :) We met online also. I didn’t find out he had his own little ’story’ until I told his step-mom the truth. Opps! On his part for not letting me know he was telling fibs!!

Me, I have no secrets. (which in all honesty is probably a bad thing) I have no problemo telling people we met online - and that he starting IMing me because I was cute and I was ‘free’ to contact. (I had match figured out!) It’s the part where we got to know each other and fell in love that’s the important part - and that didn’t happen online :)

Anyways - I was meeting him and some co-workers for lunch the other day (he’s been there a year, we’ve been married for 9 months) and he warned me not to mention that we ‘met online’. I was shocked - what? How do they think we met? Why are you so silly about this! haha. At least he gave me a heads up this time!

Welcome - looking forward to your creativity!

oooh, so very brave of you to announce your affiliation to paper source. that place is like crack in the hive!

my bf and i met online too…after we were at school together! lol. we didn’t tell our parents the truth because it would have taken a lot more time than just saying we “went to school together” which is a half truth…we just didn’t know the other one was there!

Big ups on the hyphenated name change for both of you.

So happy to have you, Miss Cream Puff! Especially because Mr. Tulip is Taiwanese and we too have 4 cats and a dog!! Hooray for interracial 5-pet-owning couples! ;)

(And my last, 4-year, relationship was with someone I met on the Internet…. Never would have given him chance if we’d met at a party, so I’m a big proponent of Internet meets — recommend it to all my single friends. But his chosen story was “met through friends” too!)

Welcome!!

My FH and I met online as well - so you’re not alone!! I always say that meeting online gives you the opportunity to get to know someone MUCH better than if you had met in say, a bar, y’know? So no worries! I bet there’s a great story behind the monitor!

Welcome! I love the name Cream Puff since we will being having Beard Papa at our wedding instead of cake :-). You know, everyone I tell we met online, INCLUDING MY PARENTS, responds with, “I know a couple who just got married who met online.” Online is actually the boring way to meet these days.

That is super cool that you are an illustrator. My fiance and I both graduated with BFAs in Illustration last May.

I sat at Starbucks tonight after work and worked on drawings for the wedding coloring book I’m making for the kids.

I hope we get to see some of your illustrations!

Yay for another Bay Area wedding on WeddingBee! The Green Room is absolutely stunning — that’s going to be fabulous venue. We wanted to be there but of course by the time we asked in July 2007, all Saturdays in July and August 2008 were already taken. . . . :) Can’t wait to read more — and I too would love seeing pictures of kittles . . . since we would love one (or two or three) but can’t have one where we rent.

Wow, you guys are all so awesome and welcoming! I assure you, in the future you will definitely be seeing my babies (otherwise known as my sons, my kitties), and my drawings, which actually take up a huge part of our wedding plans. :)

Just a couple of notes to some of you guys who commented:

Paper Source does cause quite a bit of trouble for me! It’s hard to bring home a paycheck when you work there, for SURE!

Jilian–I have no secrets either, and I’m with you: I haven’t figured out whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing yet!

Katy–I love your rhyme!

Cara–The first time we actually met in person was at the airport. In the beginning I told people we met at the airport, just to appease Mr. Cream Puff…but I found that they asked too many questions! I realized a very romantic story should accompany “we met at the airport,” so I just gave up. I tell people the truth, whether Mr. Cream Puff is embarrassed or not!

Miss Tulip–the other night Mr. Cream Puff and I were looking at some of your posts and were almost disturbed by how much we have in common with you guys! It’s crazy! The last line of your bio (about multitasking with TV watching and computer time and various other things) could have been written by me! We must talk.

And, of course, a shout out to my NorCal Knotties. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

I’m learning so much from reading your Weddingbee entry - I had no idea you and guys were combining your names. What a great idea and now liberated of Mr. Cream Puff.

Great first entry, Stinkerpants!
