About Mrs. Onion

Ok, Bee Honest

February 9th, 2008 @ 2:49 pm by Mrs. Onion

So Miss Penguin’s recent post about being a weddingbee addict had me laughing so hard and I love that so many of you responded. Mrs. Butterscotch was the first to chime in and admit she started a blog just to apply to be a bee.**raises hand** I did too.

So after I read the ENTIRE post out loud to Mr. Onion I said, “I wonder how many other bees started a blog just to be a weddingbee?” to which he said “Forget that, how many bees AND readers started a blog to apply to be a bee?”

So ladies…come clean. Did you start a wedding blog just to apply to the bee like I did?!

PS. For all of you girls who aren’t married yet and think you’ll “kick the habit” post wedding — you are sadly mistaken. It’s like West Side Story (cues music) — “Once you’re a bee you’re a bee all the way from your first DIY to your last dying day!!”

PPS. Note: I wrote this post at 11:47 PM…enough said.

About a year ago I tried to start a blog to try to become a bee, but it didn’t work out. I just wasn’t feeling it and totally had writer’s block.

Fast forward a year later (and almost 6 months after my wedding), and now I’ve decided to start a blog for the hell of it.

Acutally I mainly started it so when I go to my honeymoon in May, I can post stuff from Italy for my family and friends to see. So the last month of blogging is really practice for May. It takes some work to get to know the ins and outs of blogger. But I’m having fun. Plus my friends and family who had never heard of a blog are really getting into it and that’s fun to see. I have a handful of family and friend blog-stalkers. It’s really cute!

I owe it all to Weddingbee!! Thank you!

I made my wedding-related posts on my blog public just to apply. Sadly, I guess I was too boring to be a bee. ;)

I already had a blog, but hijacked it to write about wedding stuff…more wedding stuff than I would have liked to have posted on my personal blog, so I was glad when I was accepted and could stop posting so much about my wedding on my every-day blog.

How’s THAT for confusing!!

Guilty! Granted, I love writing and might have made the decision to start a blog on my own later anyway, but the prospect of becoming a bee made it extra motivation!

Fo sho…that’s what I did! Of course, now I love blogs PERIOD (reading them, too). I’m obsessed, and hope to keep a more general one post-wedding, too!

i started a blog roughly a year ago as a weight loss tool….when i stumbled into the world of wedding blogs, i became obsessed. so i started one too….pre-engaged, as the long suffering girlfriend awaiting a proposal.

now that i am engaged, i am having the hardest time overcoming writer’s block lately.

dont think i’m gonna apply for the next bee role. lol…..

I’ve had my blog for a LOOONG time now, so I didn’t start it up for the sole reason to become a bee. But WB has prompted me to be a little more careful about punctuation/spelling etc, so that my blogs are a bit more coherent to the general public.

And WB also pushed along my DIYness. I definitely like taking on more crafts projects - so I can post about them!!

I’d like to write more about wedding planning… if I had wedding planning to write about. sigh.

*snort* the actual title of my wedding blog was “Wedding Bee Application.” Dead giveaway.

I’ve never even read blogs until I found Weddingbee through Mrs. Lemon. So, Weddingbee was the first blog I’ve ever read, and I specifically started blogging to apply to become a Bee. Now, I keep 2 blogs, my wedding blog, and a new one, focused on life as a couple, housekeeping, and cooking, in preparation to ween me off of my wedding blog, once I’m married. Bloggity, blog, blog, now I’m addicted to blogs!

I love love wedding blogs- and it’s all because of wedding bee. Everytime a new bee comes on I think about starting a blog, but I just don’t have the attention span :) Instead I’ll just keep reading all the great bees entries instead! I’m totally totally addicted

guilty as charged! i totally started my wedding blog in the hopes of one day being a bee. i keep telling my boy, at least this addiction is healthy!

Nope. I had a wedding blog 5 months before. I was getting tired of telling my “wedding planning” story to everyone that was asking, so I decided to blog it so I wouldn’t repeat myself 100000 times. LOL…

Like Miss Penguin, I never read blogs until I found Wedding Bee. Now I’m totally hooked. I wouldn’t say being a Bee was the ONLY reason I started the blog, but it was a HUGE reason and good motivation.

I’ve been blogging for years, but have compartmentalized different topics/aspects into different blogs- one private blog, one to write on pop culture, and now… a wedding blog! Of course, knowing I could apply someday to be a bee helped make that decision to start a separate wedding blow easy.

TOTALLY. I had a regular blog but started a secret wedding blog before we got engaged in hopes that I’d have material for weddingbee. *sigh* I think I’m hopelessly addicted!

22.
MJ says:

I did. But, I thought my wedding was too close to be accepted during the last round of new Bees, so I never applied.

I’m MJ and I’ve been addicted to WB for about a year and five months now…

Miss Radish says:

I actually started my blog before I found Weddingbee. My sister, who was my unofficial coordinator, wanted me to do it so we could communicate long-distance about the wedding and she could see what I was thinking.

Kate says:

Yup. I’m Kate and I’m a Blog-aholic. I’ll admit it. I’m powerless over my addiction.

I have three blogs - one for shopping, one for sarcastic daily life and one for my wedding. The last of which is the ONLY one I currently update - and was also 100% WB App Inspired but has become more than that for me. I will continue on regardless of being accepted because I plan to Blurb the experience at the end. BUT - I’m still hopin’ to join the hive. ::crosses fingers::
