There Has Been A Lot Of Discussion…

February 11th, 2008 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Gummi Bear

…about boobage. Now, I’m not overly endowed, but us itty-bitty girls need a way to keep them puppies in for some level of modesty. I’m sure it’d be less than wedding-appropriate to be nipping out all over the farm.Having an open back dress, I didn’t really have that many options, so I’m happy to say that the NuBra worked well for me. I cannot vouch for girls that have nice big melons, but for the mosquito bite troop, this may work for you!

Here it is working well:

I bought one to use at my dress trials, but they are definitely stickiest the first use, so I bought a new one for the day of. It worked well, didn’t become less tacky - but I’m also famous for not sweating, so I’m not sure if that is something to be concerned about. I’d recommend buying one and running around and seeing if it can hold up to whatever crazy wedding antics you might get up to. Even if you don’t plan on dancing, you should probably do something that makes you sweaty and then perform the best boobshake you can muster in your living room to see if one boob become unstuck and slaps your partner in the face in a less than bridal way. If it manages to come unstuck but slaps them in a very bride-like way, let me know - I want video proof of this classy sweaty boob slap.

Here it is withstanding very animated story:

The unfortunate thing about my dress was that because it was a sheath with very little holding it to me, my nu-bra was a very active party member.

It came out to welcome people to a piece of cake!
2259040

and it also wanted to introduce us as married!
225904001

I have a million photos of it poking out, thank god I’m not modest or I would have very few photos of me at my own wedding. I want everyone that see my wedding photos to share in the joy that was my stick-on-boob-holder. I mean, it was an integral part of my whole wedding experience!

All that being said, it held on with no discomfort and never came unstuck. It did leave my boobs looking a little weird and wrinkly from the stickiness going on not quite evenly.. but that was just more sexiness for Mr. GB to look forward to. Or perhaps a peek into his future 50 years from now.

I looove your dress. Please tell me what designer and model # your dress is. I’ve been looking for that model. BTW you look great in your gown.

You can use double stick garment tape to keep that from happening. You’ll have to sacrifice your nu-bra, but I think its worth it on your wedding day.

How appropriate that gummibear had a sticky, gel bra! Too bad you couldn’t get it in in a fruit flavor. :(

shortcake, I tried! it came loose fairly quickly :( I think neither the silk nor the nu-bra had surfaces that were good with any adhesives! I would have sewn a few stitches if I knew I would be exposing bra all day! :)

I went with the NuBra too and I SWEAR by them! The stuck on despite the 97 degree heat … and I’m a medium so they work for us middle of the roads, as well.

Great report - I have been wondering about the NuBra, and actually bought one but have not had the courage to stick it on for a trial yet. So when you pull it off, is it super sticky ouch, or just moderately so?

I’ve got lots of friends who swear by the NuBra, but it didn’t really work for me =( Granted, I wore it dripping-with-sweat dance club, but still….falling silicone boobs are no fun. So DEFINITELY take Mrs. GB’s advice: take your NuBra for a test run. For girls that sweat a bit more or those getting married in the summer, it might not be the best choice.

Note, that there are TWO types of Nu-Bra out there. One’s a hefty mamma, that enhances your mosquito bites to at least barnacle levels, if not actual fruits. That one comes in this tray-like box.

The other kind are lighter weight, and are more like “real” bra cups — they’re fabric on the outside, so they may be more accepting of double-stick tape. (I bought these cute, precut, made for this type of thing, tapes called “Match Sticks” at the Neiman’s lingerie dept.)

I like the original Nu-Bra for its enhancement value, but they’re heavy suckers! The lighter one (I can’t for the life of me recall what they’re called, but they come in a smaller box) is great for more “everyday” duty. (But, like the originals, if you stick ‘em on closer to your armpits and join ‘em up — woohoo, instant cleavage!)

Thank you for the humorous edification. Brought a chuckle to my day, which is a feat on a Monday. And I learned something to boot.

Thanks for the cute AND useful post, Mrs. GB!

Does anyone know whether only the official Nu-Bra works, or whether knock-offs work just as well? Just curious…. I’ve been thinking of buying one, and wasn’t sure whether it was safe to save the extra $5-10 on an off brand.

Thanks for the tip! My dress is relatively low backed and I did not want to get a funky bra that straps around your waist then up. I had looked at some knock offs of these at Target so I’m glad I know where to get the real thing now.

You are so funny! And how wonderful that you just shrug it off instead of getting all dramatic about it!

(P.S. Love the dress… you look gorgeous!)

I bought a Nu-Bra knock-off at Target for New Year’s and it worked pretty well. I had a tough time finding one that would fit me (34D), because most of them were for smaller cup sizes. (I know, rich people problems). Anyways, it held my boobs well, but i wish it had slightly more lift.

A better option is to have your seamstress construct and sew into the dress a bra. Much less sticky and you don’t have to worry about it moving!
