Almost Perfect

February 12th, 2008 @ 2:36 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

Since I’ve written about my complicated family tree, I thought I’d continue on with my not so symmetrical bridal party. When Mr. Flamingo and I decided on who would take part in our special day… it wasn’t that complicated. Thanks to the great feature from David’s Bridal called Dress your wedding, I am happy to present you our almost perfect Bridal Party.

No kidding, I love the fact that it is not equal. Adds a little kick to the whole thing.

Almost Perfect : wedding bridesmaid groomsman montreal Bridal

On my side it was quite simple, I have 3 sisters filling the position of 3 bridesmaids. Now because I didn’t want to favor one sister over the other for the MOH position, I asked my cousin instead. Easy way out and everybody’s happy! :)

For Mr. Flamingo’s side, he asked his best friend to be his best man, that’s it. It was a little touchy since Mr. F has a brother and didn’t ask him to be part of the bridal party… but there was no feud. Hurray for family members accepting our decisions and not making a big deal about it!!! For the ring bearer and the flower girl, we asked both our godchildren. It was perfect - my godchild is a boy and Mr. F’s is a girl!

Mr. Flamingo wanted to ask more guys to be part of the bridal party simply because he wanted it to be equal. I told him there was no point. He didn’t even know who to ask, and filling the holes just because with guys he wasn’t close with - was not a good choice. What do you think?

Anyone else have a not so symmetrical bridal party? Are you opting for something different, like a dog for a ring bearer? Spill the beans people!!! :)

Here are some montages I made with images from the Designer Gallery of Dress your wedding. Thought I would end this post with some pretty visuals. You should try it out if you haven’t already, it’s free and a great tool to visualize your Bridal Party.

We are almost the opposite of you :) I have a MOH and 1 bridesmaid (my sister and then my best friend) and my FI has 1 BM, 3 grooms men and then 2 ushers

We have a symmetrical wedding party, but we had to “cut” the number of groomsmen. I have a MOH and 3 bridesmaids and FI has a BM and 3 groomsmen. We decided that 10 people standing up at the altar (8 wedding attendants and the 2 of us) was more than enough. FI has 2 other close friends that we wanted to be in the wedding so we asked them to be ushers.

I have 7 ladies and he has 5 guys. People seem shocked when I say that they are uneven but I don’t care. I didn’t want FI asking random guys that he is friends with to be in the BP. I can proudly and honestly say that the people standing up there with us are our closest friends (and family members).

We had a maid of honor in absentia, due to her complicated childbirth two months prior. The only time it was all that apparent was the grand entrance into the reception: here’s a couple, and here’s a couple, and here’s some guy, and here’s a couple…

I am not going down the route of a traditional bridal party, because it would just get too complicated. My fiancé is having his best friend as his best man. I am having one of my brothers as my best man! And my little sister will hold my bouquet when we are getting married, but she is not officially a bridesmaid or MOH, so she won’t be dressed to match. I love the tool though!

I have my MOH and 1 BM. My fiance has his best man and 6 groomsmen. At first I was a little annoyed that he had so many, but I’ve gotten over it now.

me too! i’m sooo happy to hear that there are others out there like us!

I will have 6 bms-5 friends, 1 cousin (didnt want that many, but it happened). FH will have ONE best man/groomsman.

more than likely FH’s niece and nephew will fill in the roles of gf and rb.

my mother knows and she’s not that happy.
he has 3 brothers and so do I, so we could fill in the slots, but i dont think thats necessary. my brothers will be ushers, and its up to FH to decide whether or not he wants his bros to usher as well.

we haven’t spread the word really. figuring that they will figure it out at the rehearsal! lol!

oh! and i have no intention of naming a MOH either.

Fate will decide who holds my bouquet during the ceremony….whoever happens to be standing near me as i plan to have them lined up by height.

also, i am considering getting my mom to hold my bouquet.

geez, I don’t have much to contribute to this, but, I just wanted to say that your first bridal party looks RIDICULOUSLY similar to my david’s bridal party :)
