It Ain’t Hallmark…

February 14th, 2008 @ 4:59 pm by Mrs. Penguin

My Bachelorette party invitation arrived today, in true dirrrty dirrrty style, over the internets!

b132070

When you care enough to send the very best, by all means, send a Hallmark card. When you want to get down and dirty, send an Evite. Because somehow, I think it’s unholy to be able to say something like this in a real card:

b13207001

How raunchy was your Bachelorette invite? I think we managed to squeeze by with only one cuss word, truly amazing for friends of my caliber/lexicon capacity.

Heeeeeeeeeeeee! *snorts*

Girl, that’s awesome.

*ahem*

I haven’t received my invite yet, but I don’t think it’ll be at that level. My MOH is sending out invites for the Bridal luncheon this week, and we will have the Bachelorette party later that same night.

I think I might just miss out on all that ranchy invite fun!

Haha! I got my bachelorette party evite earlier this week too. Not nearly as raunchy as yours, but there was a joke about how I really want fur panties (we’re starting with a lingerie shower) that I am sure would not have appeared in a traditional paper invite. :)

Penguin, I saw the reference to you in Modern Bride (or Bride? I get too many magazines.). Very cool.

My bachelorette’s still a few months away, so no invites have gone out yet. I trust my friends to get crazy.

Do most people actually get invites in the mail to their own bachelorette parties/showers? I know an evite went out for my bachelorette party but I haven’t seen it, but that’s probably because I don’t know what the party is (though it is going to be nothing compared to yours — all I know is it will be 3pm to 9am the next morning and it is totally dry — I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t really disappointed that I won’t get a good, drunk, bootyshaking night, but apparently my bridal party thinks I’m not cool enough for that?). My showers are coming up too but I don’t think anyone thought to include ME on the invite list… is it standard?

Julie - I’m not sure! I’m assuming you would need to be “in the loop” especially if you need to book a flight or, you know, NOT make plans the day that your bachelorette party is planned.

I think lots of girls dont get invites to their B parties because they are a SURPRISE! There is probably info in the E-vite that your friends dont want you to know, like if they are planning some sort of secret theme or something.

Even though I did receive an invite for the bachelorette event/shower… I’m not really sure what’s going to happen. My sister made adorable invitations with a little rhyme to announce the affair but didn’t include many details except time and meeting place…. I’m assuming that the other girls got more info or they will when they RSVP.
I joked with my FI about “oh, look at this cute invite for my bachelorette… I bet you won’t get any invite more than a text message for your Vegas bash with the guys.” shouldn’t have spoken so soon. Believe it or not the best man surprised everyone by ordering personalized event ticket invitations for the bachelor party. FI got his invite 2 days after my invite arrived. I’m totally impressed. THAT one DOES refer to some debauchery and wildness :-)

I made the same sort of raunchy evite invitation for a friend this past summer, but she didn’t receive an email copy. Instead, I got Kinko’s to print out a nice version of the whole page and laminate it, so she gets to keep it forever and ever. Oh yeah, I didn’t get it printed until everyone had RSVP-ed with their own dirty comments as well.
