Hair Raising Question

February 20th, 2008 @ 11:42 am by Mrs. Petunia

Let me start out by saying that I may be the most indecisive person in the universe. It can take me up to an hour to even decide where I may want to go to dinner, so it comes as no surprise to me that the month before my wedding, I’m having second thoughts about how I want to put my hair up on the big day.

I blame Katie Holmes for this latest dithering:

I just can’t get over how sophisticated she looks in that picture. I originally thought I wanted something looser and more “romantic,” but I’m starting to worry about that look taking a turn into unkempt, messy and frizzy as the day progresses….I thought I was quite pleased with my hair trial, but second thoughts have crept up. I’m not expecting to look half as good as she does, by any means, but I’ve worn my hair somewhat like this before and really loved it.

Which style do you think will look best?

I think a combo of both could be the perfect thing. The front could be like the picture of Katie… and the back more loose… like in picture A its do-able and its really pretty.

Buckeye says:

I think both styles look great on you, it just depends what you think fits best. I looked at your post about your dress, and I think that style A would look lovely with your dress, they seem to complement each other well, and I think they would come together to complete a beautiful look for your wedding day!

Mrs. Butterscotch says:

I think both styles would be flattering on you. I do like it a little looser in the back but either way in the front would be pretty.

Mrs. Emerald says:

Especially love pic A! Gosh, you have such a perfect profile =)

ErinMarieMack says:

I second Mrs. Emerald!

Linda says:

Go for the loose and romantic look! Pic A. Pic B makes you look a little bit..older. besides - even katie holmes wore her hair loose and romantic on her wedding day!

7.
Jo says:

Not gonna lie - you look infinitely prettier with A.

Mrs. Caterpillar says:

Go with A! It’s such a soft romantic look. And will look gorgeous with your veil. You’re beautiful, so you’ll look great if you go with B, but I vote A!

Miss Daffodil says:

you look so beautiful in A. the other look is definitely very sleek and sophisticated, but you just look so romantic and red carpet in A. it won’t look messy at all. so gorgeous!
(btw, i love that katie holmes pic too!)

Mrs. Ant says:

You look great either way! But A really looks so romantic and bridal.

Btw, I think Caterpillar wins for most gigantic icon.

Indigo says:

I like A, it’s quite stunning and elegant, really compliments your features. To me, B makes your face seem less prominent, if that makes sense.. Katie has a larger, more square-ish forehead so it works for her. You have a more delicate forehead, so that side sweep takes away from your beautiful face.

Miss Flamingo says:

Well… Mrs.Ant… I think your second. Mrs.Caterpillar takes it for the biggest icon. Its like half the size of my computer screen. haha

maggie says:

I think A is the better of the two– B is just a bit too severe, especially for a wedding.

JenniferB says:

I like B, out of all the pictures you’ve posted of yourself, that is the hairstyle you gravitate towards. I think if that is what you are most comfortable with, and it FEELs like you, then go for it!

15.
Tberry says:

With your dress I thin B would look great. I would do something intricate with the back and possibly add a flower to keep th sophistication but soften the severity of it.

It looks like I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE B. It is so sophisticated looking, and I definitely don’t think that it makes you look older. After seeing that picture, Picture B is absolutely what I wish I could get MY hair to look like for my wedding (or anyday, for that matter!) but it is way to coarse and frizzy. Your hair is beautiful!

beanchar says:

I’m going to vote for A. Both styles look nice on you, but I think A suits your dress better. And it’s not TOO curly and fussy, which I think is the mistake some people make with bridal hair. You still look like you.

Also style B you can clearly do on your own anytime, so since you are paying someone else to do it, why not have something you couldn’t do otherwise?? :)

BTW, a big hug on hitting the 4-week mark. So exciting!!

i honestly love option a. it’s lovely on you, and i have to agree with the commenter above who stated what a gorgeous profile you have (i’m so jealous!) i’ve been trying to vote in the poll, by the way, but for some reason it’s not working on my end.

Miss Dahlia says:

I’m in the minority, but I’ve got to go with B.

20.
Erin says:

Definitely, definitely, definitely A. Seriously, I am reevaluating my decision to wear my hair down because of how your hair looks in that picture. I absolutely fell in love with that hair style. Can I rave any more? I don’t think so…

My vote is A.

21.
Fran says:

I agree with Beanchar–since it’s your wedding day, might as well go with something that is something you wouldn’t replicate on your own–A is gorgeous.

22.
LittleMonster says:

I agree with Miss Dahlia. I prefer option B. It is so classic. And you look just as gorgeous in B as you do in A.

23.
limesnall says:

I like A, because you’re pictures are going to be timeless, and you want to show off your nice hair. I love the classic look of B, but it has a very business look to it, whereas A is so airy and romantic - perfect for one’s wedding day.

24.
Liezl says:

I think that A is much more flattering to your face shape than B…

25.
Julia says:

Definitely A :)

26.
Lisa says:

A! you look like you are in a john singer sargent portrait with that lovely hair!

27.
yokyc7 says:

i really like A, u look so romantic

Carol Frederick says:

The best way to test your hairstyle is by wearing a Bridal Mini to your hair trial. It looks like the top half of a gown, so you’ll really get the full effect of the hairstyle-especially if you bring a camera along. The Bridal Mini is a newly release item and can be found at trade shows, in salons and on the web at http://www.bridalmini.com
