About Mrs. Lovebug

A fellow bee wrote recently about the curious way in which wedding purchases spawn other purchases. Ah, too well do I know this phenomenon. I try, however, to steer my extraweddicular spending in a useful direction. Cute passport covers are useful, right?

There’s nothing like Etsy for cheaply cute-ifying your travel ensemble! All these handmade covers are between $9 and $15. These two are Stamps and Blue Love.

Dots and Lace and Hedgehog

Chic and (my favorite) Duck and Cover

And finally, possibly the coolest option - a custom passport cover made from pages of a vintage children’s encyclopedia:

For a scant $5, Enigmachcck will design a cover with your choice of a specific country or map. How awesome is THAT?

Totally justifiable mini-indulgence, right? Anyone else finding themselves picking up wedding-related-but-not-strictly=necessary extras here and there?

But I’m all about the mini-indulgences (oh and the not so mini)

I’ve seriously considered a passport cover up…. ummmm…. hmmmm……how to put this?? I love my country, but these are not our proudest days, eh? Let’s just say I’ve said “Non ho votato per lui” a LOT of times in Italy.

(Great, now I’m gonna be on a watch list! ;) )

Unfortunately, you have to take it out of the cover at customs. You can’t hand it to them in the cover. So at least make sure you can easily get your passport out of the cute cover easily while juggling your luggage with a bad case of jet lag. Then make sure you don’t leave the cute cover in customs, as you will get many disapproving looks if you hold up the line to reinsert your passport. I had a cute passport cover - actually very nice leather - that is in the middle of its second life as a coaster.

Wow, this is so cute! Maybe I’ll forgo the luggage tag favors for passport covers since our guests will need passports to get to our wedding.

I just got my FH a set of packing “envelopes” from Eagle Creek for his birthday, as we travel a lot and will need some dress clothes for our honeymoon….
