Miss Shortcake’s Ebay Treasures

February 21st, 2008 @ 4:13 pm by Mrs. Shortcake

Although I’m not having a vintage wedding dress (I couldn’t help it…couture + sparkles + me = no resistance:)), nothing has stopped me from saving sweet fifties wedding gowns to my Ebay account. I hope that some of you gown-less girls will be able to make use of my links, and so I present the first installment of

TREASURE #1: 1950’S VINTAGE WHITE AND RED TULLE PROM DRESS
 35″-26″-37.5″

CURRENTLY AT: $2.25

Look at this beauty! For those of you who love a splash of colour - red certainly does the trick! Imagine wearing this dress, with red peep-toe pumps, a birdcage veil, and shortie wrist length gloves…DI-VINE!

It appears to be full-length, but I would hem it to calf length to flash some Amish porn (ankle). You could even get a seamstress to cover the red sash with another colour, say baby blue, or even just white satin.

It really reminds me of a knottie kayrose’s gorgeous wedding dress.

TREASURE # 2: 1950S VINTAGE ILLUSION LACE TULLE WEDDING DRESS
SIZE-SMALL BUST-34-36-WAIST-26-HIPS-FREE
CURRENTLY AT: $99.99

This dress reminds me so much of Elizabeth Taylor’s gown in the original Spencer Tracey Father of the Bride! Super adorable! The listing notes that it has one tear in an underlayer of tulle (the netting) that isn’t noticible and will be perfect after drycleaning.

TREASURE # 3: 1950’S LACE SHELF BUST WEDDING DRESS WITH LACE BOLERO

Bust-32 inches Waist-up to 25 inches Hips- free sweep Length top to waist-11 inches Length waist to hem-34 inches Jacket Length-14.5 inches Jacket Sleeve Length-23 inches

CURRENTLY AT: $71.00

*drool*

From the listing at timelessvixen:

“From the Low-Cut Strapless Shelf-Bust to the matching bolero-jacket, this ensemble is very similar to the “Dior” designs from back in the “new look” era. Slip this beauty on, grab your platform heels, and SHINE! This dazzling gem will keep you glowing all season long! ”

Lace covered buttons?! *swooon*

TREASURE #4: PINK RUFFLE 1950S VINTAGE STRAPLESS GOWN

Bust-32-34 inches Waist-up to 26 inches Hips-free sweep Length top to waist-11 inches Length waist to hem-30 inches

CURRENTLY AT: $54.99

It REALLY, REALLY hurts to post this one, because, you see, it’s actually my dream dress OF ALL TIME. But, unfortunately, my boobsicles are on the bigger side of a 36B, and the bust on this gown is 32-34. (insert melodramatic sigh here)

My only consolation is that some reader will buy this, wear it as her rehearsal dinner dress or shower dress, or sweet pink heaven, her wedding dress, and will send me tons of pictures. Sigh.

And that goes for all of these gowns - I want pictures of you in them! :)
