Attack Of The Killer Boxes

February 22nd, 2008 @ 11:33 am by Mrs. Bubblegum

For many months, I spent hours upon hours scouting where, online, I would make my bulk purchases. Now that we are a little over three months from the wedding, the boxes are literally taking over our lives. We have several corners that are now dedicated to the housing of boxed goods:

To tell you the truth, the kitties could not be happier (aw look at ma bebbe):

So here’s what we’ve gotten so far…

As one piece of our favors, we bought maple leaf cookie cutters from David’s Bridal ($1.50 a piece, AND, because I bought a dress there, I had a coupon for 25 free favors!!!)

Because we’re DIY’ing our centerpieces, we needed vases. We went to our local Walmart and had them order us 20 of these bad boys - 8″ bubble vases for $3.97 a piece!!!!

From this advice from the brilliant Mrs. Lemon, I got these OOT bags from jiffyshirts ($2.61 a piece!):

These were going to be part of the gifts for the groomsmen, also ordered from David’s Bridal, but if you can read backwards, you MIGHT notice that the date on these says 2007. This is a subject for another day. :)

And because, god forbid not everything matches the color scheme, I got these disposable cameras to leave on the tables from koyal wholesale (I found these a few places online, but this was the cheapest I could find at $3.95 a piece):

And FINALLY, we got these 4×4x4 boxes from Paper Mart for $0.497 a piece ($9.94/20) in “Quilt”:

I fear that, in the next month or so, I will no longer be able to navigate through this mess. Someone will come looking for me, yes??

You have to love packages. BTW, I also saw where Mrs. Lemon posted about Jiffshirts. She mentioned that she found coupon codes. Did you find any? I love those bags, but I need 50 which is pricey at 2.61 a piece.

I can’t wait to see your DIY centerpieces, I’m thinking of DIYing mine too and was thinking about using a fishbowl as well.

I feel your pain! I rearranged all my closet space, and now have a small closet entirely dedicated to all of our wedding randomness, and that still isn’t enough! I now have a “corner” that is slowly growing and will surely take over the entire apartment before all is said and done!

FI walked into the closet in his “media room” and said to me “What is going on in here?” Bags of paper, boxes of well, boxes, envelopes, invites, ribbon, scissors, zots, etc. I said “dude, we are getting married. It is only going to get worse!”

Don’t do what I once and go insane thinking your car keys are lost only to find them at the bottom of a giant box of styrofoam peanuts (picture #3 above)!

We are totally in the same situation! Boxes and wrapping everywhere (and yes, just wait for gifts to start arriving! Cardboard overload, I tell ya). We also have a lot of makeshift crafting stations around our apartment where my DIY supplies spill out all over the place. It’ll be nice when things return to normal!

Ha ha. Good times. Just wait until you start getting gifts. Crate and Barrel especially. They send at least 4 boxes of packaging per present.

Also it does not magically disappear after the wedding. I still have a whole “wedding misc. items” closet 4 months post wedding.

It is kitten heaven. Mine also have an ongoing “Queen of the Boxes” game, which they love! They are going to be soooo sad when the boxes leave, although what with presents and FI & kids moving in that may not be until the end of the year.

How is the quality of those bags? I was going to order them as part of my bridesmaids gifts, but the “polyester with PVC backing” things made me nervous. Do they feel really plastic?

OMG!! Miss Bubblegum, I have a lot of the exact same boxes stacked up in the corner by the balcony door(all of my vases for the centerpieces). Every available corner of the apartment is filled with boxes, bags from Ikea, and all kinds of other things. I have three weeks left, and I just can’t do any better than that. My kids love it however, because under normal circumstances, I am like Monica on “Friends”…there’s a place for everything and everything has a place. They think it’s a free for all and anything goes! They’re going to be so clowned post wedding when mama returns to her old self…..
