Wedding Rings

February 22nd, 2008 @ 10:25 am by Mrs. Onion

Looking for unique wedding rings? I came across Dawes Design today and just got lost on her website looking through all the stunning pieces. I love unique jewelry and each of these pieces are so interesting. Many of the pieces are designed to be stackable so you could wear multiple rings together.

The designer, Jennifer Dawes, recently launched Sustainably Beautiful, her initiative in creating jewelry in a socially and environmentally responsible way. She only uses recycled gold, conflict free diamonds and responsibly mined stones. “I try to leave as small a footprint on this planet as possible.” I love the conflict free diamonds! This is so important to me.

I’m planning on checking out some of the NYC locations where her pieces are sold to see them in person. Check out her website for more eye candy!

Wow… I love it when artists create jewelry as works of art. I always wonder how they got started in the business…

The issue of conflict-free is an important one. You should note that you don’t have to go to a special jeweler to ensure that you’re getting conflict-free, as there is a certification program now in place and your jeweler can tell you (from the identification number engraved on your diamond) its point of origin. If you are skeptical of any diamonds of African origin, you can request a Russian, Australian, or Canadian diamond. I myself am partial to Canadian!!

suzanno — thanks for sharing this tip with us. we didn’t purchase any diamonds for my wedding set (my e-ring is about 100 years old and my wedding ring diamonds came from my mother’s first wedding band and a cocktail ring of my grandmothers). but when we are in a position to purchase something lovely i’ll keep this in mind!

So beautiful! To avoid purchasing a conflict diamond, FH and I got a gorgeous heirloom piece from an estate jeweler near us.
