And The Award Goes To…

February 25th, 2008 @ 5:25 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

Definitely not me!!! This weekend I finally started working on my invitations. To be honest it’s not going very well. You’d think being a designer would help, but it’s simply making this whole process extremely hard. Like I always do when I can’t seem to concentrate on a specific thing… I sidetrack. So instead I started thinking about my table numbers.

Mr. Flamingo had found an interesting site a while back with endless amounts of movie posters from the 20s to now. I thought this was a interesting way to incorporate the whole movie part in our whole vintage glam theme. But I am still indecisive.

What do you think? Would it be a good idea to name our tables after vintage movies? Do you have any other ideas on how I could incorporate the movie part to our wedding?

We’re doing movies for tables at our wedding. For escort cards, we’re using smaller versions of the pictures captioned with “Now Playing” and the person’s name on the back. I think it’s cute, but obviously, I’m biased. ;)

I think it’s a *great* idea!

I’ve been thinking of a way to name our tables and the best I can come up with is naming it after the jewelry that I make…but I’m still thinking about that too…

I’ve been reading the blog all weekend, but felt inspired to post my first comment because we’re doing movies for our table names as well…and going an extra step further by photoshopping ourselves into the posters (well, that’s the plan anyway; it’ll be a test of my ’shop skills, that’s for sure).

So, obviously, yes I think the movie table idea is awesome. But like triciaj, I’m biased.

I think that’s an awesome idea, and I’m having an episode of post-wedding regret because this would have been PERFECT for my reception, which was held in an old, remodeled movie theatre!!!

Hmmm… I must admit, I’m on the fence with this one. I do think its a great idea, very vintage. But from my recollection your colors seemed to be softer, more romantic, no? So I’m trying to envision if the bright colors of the movies would be a nice juxtaposition of color or not. I do think its a fabulous idea though and would probably work out well!

Buckeye - my colors are ivory, brown and pink… i too thought that it might be too much color… but then again they are such pretty posters.

Our centerpieces are clear vases with chandelier pieces… so no color in there. Our tablecloths and napkins are ivory… so basically the only colored thing on the table apart from the menus would be the table numbers.

It might actually be pretty…. but im gonna think about it more. Thanks for pointing it out… it honestly didnt cross my mind

Can you do something tricky in Illustrator to change the photos to your colour scheme? I’m thinking having them like a black and white image, but it shades of brown or pink instead of black.
