Busy Bee Boards, Part 2

Hey everybody, it’s BIL Bee. Mrs. Bee recently asked me to fix some Boards features that were giving you trouble. I’m not 100% done, but I was able to fix a few things and add a few new features…
- First, Bee mentioned that sometimes new users didn’t receive their emailed passwords, and current users didn’t get their private message alerts. It turns out that we were sending the emails, but some email servers didn’t “trust” that our email wasn’t spam, so they were throwing our emails away! Happily, I think we finally straightened that out last week.
- jilian wanted easy access to the Not Wedding Related board, so we added a drop-down menu at the top of both the Boards and Classifieds:
- BaghdadBride and sphbride both wanted to be able to sort Board posts by the date it was originally posted (not the date of last comment), so we added three buttons to the top of the Boards:
- champagnebride wants to be able to change her password. Actually, you can change their password right now by clicking “View your profile” at the top of the Boards page, and then clicking “edit this information” link. The link to change your password, champagnebride, is http://boards.weddingbee.com/profile/champagnebride/edit.
- jnicholea wants to be able to click the Boards image in the right sidebar and go to the Boards. Well, jnicholea, you’re all set now! I also made the Classifieds image clickable too…
I’ll keep on plugging away on your other requests. In the meantime, let us know what you think so far!

Can you also make the “boards” title on the right hand side of the page clickable? It is a small, but annoying thing that I can’t go to the general boards page without going to the top of the page.

One thing though that I forgot to post when this was first asked…is there any way you can make sizing photos you put in the boards easier? I love posting pictures and I think they can really help but only certain sized photos will fit so I have to resize my photos in the pop up window. But to use that feature I can’t just put in one dimension (ie width) I have to calculate the other dimension so that the picture doesn’t end up distorted.
@Fox&theHound - We haven’t spent any time on photo uploading or sizing… we’ll have to look into that one at some point. Thanks for the reminder!

I get randomly subscribed to posts - even ones I haven’t read… I think it is always posts from the classified board, for some reason. Any way to stop this?
Not sure you fixed the password problem. I tried again yesterday and still have not received a password to my gmail account!

I may be a little late here… but I have a small issue that bothers me a bit. I think this may be an issue based on how each particular blogger creates her (or his) entry, but sometimes when I click on a hyperlink it will navigate me away from the WeddingBee page and other times it will open in a new page. I prefer it to open in a new page because most often I’m not ready to navigate away from WB (must keep wedding bee up!) and then I have to come back.
Soo…. Is there any way to ensure that a hyperlink always opens in a new page (or tab when using Firefox/tabbed browsing)?

P.S. - I’m no computer whiz so if I didn’t use the proper web terms - sorry! 
@HCB - We hand configure each link by hand to link to another page. Sounds like we missed some of those. We’ll look into more permanent solutions for that.
In the meantime, maybe try holding down shift when you click on a new link? That will always open the page in a new window… it should work on any site.
