Mrs. Radish's Picture
Mrs. Radish, Chicago/Syracuse Age and Occupation: 27, Executive Assistant/Journalism Student/Musician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Anthropologist/Musician Engagement Date: December 20, 2005 Wedding Date: August 18, 2007 Blogging Since: June 26, 2007 Venue: The Wellington House in Fayetteville, NY About Me: Mr. Radish and I are both from upstate New York, so we are planning a wedding in Syracuse from about 700 miles away. When I’m not obsessing about our wedding I play the cello in my band (which Mr. Radish is in too), read as much as I can, sleep even more, travel whenever possible, and try to find time to have fun with my friends. I’m also working on finishing up my journalism degree with a concentration in environmental reporting and I’m the VP of my campus Amnesty International chapter… so I’m a pretty busy bee.

After the receiving line, it was time to take care of those obligatory posed photos with family and the wedding party.
First, we did a few pictures inside the church since that seemed like the normal thing to do.

Here we are - the wedding party! It looks a little like a sausage party with so many dudes! I guess that’s because we had 5 little guys in the wedding but only 2 flower girls… plus one of our bridesmaids didn’t make it to the wedding because of illness :(

My new parents-in-law.

My new parents-in-law and brothers and sisters-in-law. I always feel like a giant around them. I’m actually wearing flats here, and his sisters and his mom are wearing heels! They are just a petite bunch… but quite good looking :)X: Say Cheese! : wedding pictures recap syracuse Edited014 edited014

My uncle Jim, who walked me down the aisle. Now there’s a tall guy! He pretty much dwarfs me and Mr. Radish.

With my mom and step-dad. Apparently I’m the only one following directions in this photo since I’m the only one looking at the camera! My mom looks like a deer caught in headlights - LOL!

Then we did some more shots outside on the grounds at the reception venue during the cocktail hour. These got a little rushed because the receiving line went much longer than I had anticipated, and then our car got a little lost on the way to the reception. :( We cut them short so we could get the reception moving and did some more to make up for it after the reception.

The sun was in my eyes really bad, so I have a horrid look on my face. Unfortunately, this was the only decent picture that I got with my Grandma because I forgot to give my photographer a shot list (which he asked for several times… SHAME on me… bad bride!) and things got a little crazy and I forgot to get more shots with her later on. Ah well.

With my uncle again.

The in-laws. I like this one because we all look a little more natural and relaxed.

A MUCH better shot with my parents!

Another sun-in-the-eyes shot with Mr. Radish’s siblings… but it’s a nice full-length shot so I still kinda like it.

My two younger sisters and my former step-mom.

Two of my four sisters. I love the contrast of her purple blouse against the green background. X: Say Cheese! : wedding pictures recap syracuse Edited0 EDITED0

With my father… yup, that’s right. It’s kind of a long story… which I blogged about over the summer. Read it here if you’re interested.

Since we had to cut our photo sessions short during the cocktail hour, we made up for it at our After Party. I’m glad we did some shots there because it was around 6pm and the sun was starting to come down and gave off some beautiful golden light.

With my sisters and my baby brother.
X: Say Cheese! : wedding pictures recap syracuse Edited021 EDITED021

My hair looks pretty messy in this picture (we had a morning wedding, so this was about 10 hours after I got my hair/makeup done), which you can only tell when it’s larger. But I really like the angle and the lighting in this shot. It feels very natural and relaxed. I really loved my photographer! He rules.

The whole gang!
X: Say Cheese! : wedding pictures recap syracuse Edited023 EDITED023

We got one just with my baby brother, since he is my special little dude. He is so funny. I love how he looks so “proper.” He is standing up so straight and tried to keep his tux looking very neat and orderly all day. I don’t think he took his jacket off until much later that night.

And one just with my nephew since he’s my other special little dude. He and my brother are only 4 months apart, but they have such different personalities. Unlike my brother, he has his shirt un-tucked and his jacket off - he’s ready to party!

Well, that’s it for our professional family pictures. Stay tuned for the next chapter of the Radish wedding ;)

I have to say your mom’s dress is so chic…it’s very flattering on her. And after seeing all the curly ponytails at the Oscars last night it seems you were on the cusp of a fashion trend :)

I remember your original post about your dad. I don’t know how talking with fiance’s family worked out (i might have missed if you did a follow-up post, but since everyone was there it must have gone fairly well), but I think your Dad looked very nice as well.

Thanks everyone :)

Tiki267 — the dress was designed by Lambert Creations. They are a French company, but I got the dress through a shop near Chicago called Veiled in Elegance. I think they are the only place in the US that carries them.
