Not One, But TWO…

February 26th, 2008 @ 9:25 am by Mrs. Daffodil

…weddings this year for the Daffodil clan!!! Please join me in wishing a big happy CONGRATULATIONS to my MOH and best friend, Sister Daffodil, who just got engaged over the weekend!

sarah engagement1

I am absolutely overjoyed about their engagement!! They have been dating for almost as long as Mr. D and I have, and her fiance is also a good friend of ours (he is one of Mr. D’s groomsmen!). Sister Daffodil is one of the most genuine and compassionate individuals you will ever meet, and she is so deserving of this joy!!! smiley106

Not to mention, she has given me permission to plan their whole wedding!! smiley301 YESSSSS!! Even though my wedding is still a little over two months away, I was already anticipating and dreading the wedding withdrawal process (I know, crazy, right?!). Though wedding planning can be stressful at times and there are moments when I wish the wedding could be right now, all in all, it is such a fun, exciting and joyous experience that I would gladly do again! I can’t wait to help make her day so special and beautiful. And this of course means that I will get to keep wedding planning, even after Mr. D and I get married smiley301.

Sister Daffodil is coming to visit me in a few weeks to help out with our invitations, but now it will be double the fun!… I am already making arrangements for dress shopping for her! smiley301 Get ready for many extra posts to come!

How many of you marrieds are living vicariously through other brides? And for those of you getting married soon, are you anticipating wedding withdrawal?!

For those of you interested, Sister Daffodil’s engagement story below!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It was a super sweet and happy proposal! She was meeting up with her boyfriend (now fiance!) for her birthday celebration, and found a packet in his apartment addressed to her. In it was a letter introducing a game for her birthday… he had placed packages in different places, each with a letter describing why that place was particularly special and what he learned about her there. However, she would have to figure out each place based on the clues he left for her! A scavenger hunt in the apartment, she thought!! She opened the first clue…”Go to the place we first held hands. Go to the box office and ask for two tickets to the movie we watched”. She couldn’t believe it… she had to go to the movie theater and ask for tickets to a movie from five years ago?! Thus began her journey all over town!

He sent her to places all over the city… their first date, the place they celebrated their first annivesary, the apartment she lived in when they first started dating, and more! At each place was a packet with the letter and with clues… he even got movie theater people and other bystanders involved! And little did Sister Daffodil know, but he also had his friends following her around, videotaping everything!

The last place the clues led her to was the garden where they had decided to start their relationship. She walked over to the bridge over the lake, and there was the final envelope. Then she saw her boyfriend walking towards her. “YOU!” she said, with a big grin!

He asked her to read the letter, and as she was reading them, he took all the other letters she had already collected and arranged them on the floor. He had decorated the edges, and once they had been arranged, she saw this…

He gave his speech (though like so many of us, Sister Daffodil doesn’t really remember it because her mind was racing at this point!), and said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

“Seriously?!!” was her reaction! “YES yes yes yes yes!”

He took out a funyun ring. She laughed!! It had been a running joke throughout their relationship…  as both of them were students, he had always asked her, “If I don’t have money and can’t afford a ring and could only give you an onion ring or rubber band, would you still marry me?” Sister Daffodil would always giggle and say, “Of course! I don’t care about the ring. I just want to marry you!” And so there they were. He was down on one knee and had her hand in his, placing a funyun ring on her left hand. “I love it!” she said!

He looked her in the eye… then put his hand back in his pocket. He pulled out a box and opened it, and there it was, the perfect diamond ring. “Seriously?!?!?!” He smiled and said, “Give me your hand”. He slipped it on her finger and they were engaged! blush

“WAIT!” she suddently exclaimed. “Is it conflict free?”
“Yes, of course!” he replied.
“GOOD!”

And that was it! And of course, the final step for Sister Daffodil…

“Future brother-in-law Daffodil said on Facebook that you two are engaged. We need you to confirm that you are, in fact, engaged to FBIL Daffodil. Thanks, The Facebook Team.”
