Paper Girl

February 26th, 2008 @ 3:24 pm by Mrs. Jasmine

I’ve mentioned before that my obsession with paper has only grown ten-fold since the moment that ring slid on my finger. My tiny studio apartment is exploding with paper samples and I absolutely love sifting through the different colors and designs. Especially since I have a new paper project I’m about to begin!

I can’t afford to have my talented invitation designer Saima Khan create our ceremony and reception stationery as well (although I can only imagine how beautiful it would have been). So I decided to muster all my creative and crafy sensibilities (however few I have) and make the programs and menus myself!

Even though I’m creating my own stationery, I want it to have the same look and feel as my save the cards and invitations (to be unveiled shortly!). Fortunately, I was able to locate the exact paper Saima used for our save the date cards and our invitation envelopes: Eames India Pink paper. This paper is a perfectly vibrant shade of fuschia with a wonderfully luxurious woven feel. I also found the Curious Metallic Gold Cardstock that she used for our directions/accommodations card. I’m going to use these two papers along with some heavy ivory paper to create our ceremony programs and menus.

I’m thrilled that I will have consistent colors and papers among all my wedding stationery– even if no one notices but me.

I ordered the paper from California Paper Goods and had a fantastic experience. Ordering was incredibly simple and my shipment arrived swiftly– with candy, no less!

Is anyone else designing ceremony and reception stationery to match invitations you ordered? Have you been able to keep a cohesive design and feel?

Miss Jasmine -

I may be way off base, (and do not want to suggest that you would dare make your big day tacky in any way,) but it might be really adorable to crinkle up some extra paper in these two shades and combine them with the flowers that your flower girl (assuming that you are having a flower girl) will toss

wow apparently I really felt the need to be ubber PC in my comment… Maybe it’s the fact that you and the Mister are lawyers :)

Beautiful paper!

I just wanted to chime in about California Paper Goods. I’ve gotten some wonderful paper from them at terrific prices and great service, and they always send a little lagniappe with the order. Although I’ve not gotten candy, I did get a little piece of some fabulous Thai embossed paper once. I ended up ordering some (after dreaming for months of some sort of project I could use it for) and using it to cover boxes for the WB Valentine exchange. Love that company!

I totally feel your paper obsession. I’m sure your programs and menus will be wonderful Keep us posted, please.

I have never heard of california paper goods but I am soo excited and grateful that you posted about them! I was wondering if they sent you samples because that gold leaf looks like the exact color I am looking for, but I worry that it will different in person… Did you find that their prices are better than paper source? (which wouldn’t surprise me at all!) thanks for the helpful post!

Hi Pancy! I’m glad I could help :) I actually didn’t order any samples– I just took a risk and ordered the ten pack. The gold leaf is so, so lovely. And I thought their prices were definitely better than Paper-Source.
