February 14, 2008 marked our last Valentine’s Day as an unmarried couple. And what this meant was baaaasically that we weren’t about to spend any extra money on fancy V-day gifts. So instead, we decided to celebrate by making a day of buying our wedding rings (Valentine’s Day = love = wedding rings! See how that worked out?).
We had a plan. I had a map. We started in downtown Exeter and ended in downtown Portsmouth. And after going to a couple typical jewelry stores and being somewhat nicely informed that we would find nothing in our price range (at Springer’s Jewelers, the woman very nicely told me to leave now but to come back in a week when they’d be having a 50% off sale), we stumbled upon Kaya, a small jewelry store in Portsmouth.
We had a great experience. It was weird. We never would have expected to both find our rings, both in stock, both in our sizes, both ready to take home, both at the same store. BUT we did, and here’s how it turned out (by the way, nobody tell the tradition police, but we totally wore them that day):

Was it love at first sight when you met your wedding ring?
