About Mrs. Cherry Blossom

It’s A CRAP-Tastic Day Y’alls!

February 28th, 2008 @ 2:43 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

… and I do mean that with the biggest laughin04 ….

Mr. CB and I really are that busy that we do not have time to go to the stores to register in person for anything. He didn’t really understand the purpose of a registry at first either, or the need to put on a variety of items that people could choose from. He thought we could put just the few things we truly only wanted (even if it was like 3 or 4 items) then at least we would be able to get the things we really really needed. Doesn’t work that way honey! Who knows if anyone would even look there, or even decide to purchase from there? And even if they did, you have to list many different things to give them options. Since we had no time to enjoy the in-store experience with the gun, I did everything myself …. online.

What could we really need he said? Well tons! My online registering started off with a few simple items, topping it at 5. I ran out of things I thought we really needed: pots, pans, knives, flatware, mixer, and toaster oven. I went blank. Cohabitating for the first time, we have nothing to bring to our empty new place, so we needed EVERYTHING. As each day goes, I start to think of little things to add here and there and check in whenever I remember to.

Today though, I was pleasantly surprised. I was going over our list… and I came across two items that were marked FULFILLED! OOOOOOOOoh suki suki yah yah yah, we got our FIRST GIFTS?!?!?!?! I can’t wait to find out who they are from because truly, they really had Mr. CB and I deep in their hearts because this is what they got us. Awesomeness no?

I never thought toilet brushes and plungers could be so sexy sleek?

Anyone else create their registry completely online?

I did mine all online, but on the Amazon.com one. I found I could register for way fun things on there (Mr S and I have a pretty established household as is)
Things like A Wii, a trampoline (we’re kids at heart) camping equipment.

It was a blast! I still sneak on and add things as I think of them to all the registries - because you know it’s really hard to remember what you have or what you need when you’re in the store, zapper in hand at the ready.

We did ours completely online too- crate and barrel, target, and vivaterra… mostly because it’s just easier and faster that way, and because we both detest shopping/malls =) I think it’ll be fine… I really don’t need to see the microwave in person! Glad to know we weren’t the only ones =)

We registered at two places: Target and Amazon.com. Target was good for those who don’t shop in advance and for items that aren’t worth paying shipping on like kitchen gadgets. That said, we were quite disappointed with Target’s registry return policy after the wedding which requires a gift receipt or that the gift is actually marked “bought” on your registry list. (Not everyone remembers to mention the gift registry at checkout, ‘ya know?)

Amazon.com, however, was fantastic - the hubby was able to register for all the powertools he wanted and I was able register for some of the osbcure items that the general market didn’t carry. Some of the bigger gifts were also shipped directly to us which avoided the need for us to lug it home from the wedding.

We did 95% of our registering online. We went in to the stores to pick out new silverware and a few pots and stuff. Stuff you need to hold to feel before you know how good it is. It was really a great experience in our to register in our house, watchin’ football in our pjs!

We did most of our registering online too — I blogged about our experiences at Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Target, etc. Keep an eye on your BB&B website! In addition to the site being not-well-designed for online shopping, their registry tool is buggy, and they do a lousy job of alerting you if something becomes unavailable online. Crate & Barrel’s is much better, but their stock turns over frequently, so if your wedding’s more than 3 months away you may need to keep updating and replacing on that registry. Macy’s is the worst — from what I read here, it sounds like registering in the store is no picnic either. But wow, their website stinks. Good luck with that one!

Muahaha this gift is clearly from one of Mr. CB’s friends, although I’d love to see you unwrap this at your shower. Priceless.
