We have an extra four tickets to give away to the New York Wedding Workshop this Saturday! Winners can choose to have a single ticket or a pair of tickets, but since it’s so close to the event, you’re going to have to pick them up from me in the West Village.
First 2 commenters have dibs. Good luck!
A while back, I posted about our wedding favors and asked for suggestions on how to fill the containers that we had purchased ahead of time. We got so many suggestions and found a great solution to our problem. Costco has tons of chocolates/candies that are only available during the holiday. We decided to use their truffles from Around the World as our wedding favor, since they needed to be pre-packaged weeks before our wedding day. I didn’t want to be stressing and losing sleep over these favors days before the wedding, so we needed something that would stay well inside our containers without the need for refrigeration.
The truffles were individually wrapped and came in 6 assorted flavors. We filled each container with 6-7 truffles each and used a sage green satin ribbon that I purchased in downtown L.A. a while back during one of my wedding shopping sprees. We then bought artificial white flowers to put on each favor as an accent, along with our tag. We used the same monogram that one of our groomsmen designed for us (the same one that’s on our cake) on our tags.We recruited my cousins and my MOH’s bf to help in filling the favor containers while I baked some brownies as a thank you to our laborers

Today I am not feeling so great. I’m achy and my throat hurts and I feel a little bit out of it. I am always very aware of my throat because, in addition to being a singer, I also have chronic strep throat. The first term of my sophomore year in college I came down with a really hideous case of strep throat. Ever since then the pesky illness has made an unwelcome appearance at least twice a year and usually whenever I am the most stressed out. The week before my sister’s wedding, where I was a bridesmaid AND the soloist, it payed me a visit. I had a fever of 104 and couldn’t speak for the few days before the ceremony. Thankfully I made a rather miraculously recovery for the day of and was able to pull off all my duties, but the high fever coupled with the 10 or so pounds I lost left me pretty weak. I made it through the reception, but crashed at the after party my parents threw at their house.
Since then I’ve become hyper aware ANY time my throat even begins to twitch and I now know the other little symptoms that usually accompany a possibly severe case as well. The day before our elopement in Japan I woke to some uh oh signs and I immediately began the hunt for Vitamin C and lots of it. I discovered this little guy at the corner store…

I don’t know what it is about dessert tables or baked goods that make me salivate– I can’t decide between the visual presentation of delicious pastries or just the thought of the yummy goodness in my tummy.
Since we finally have our own home (yay!) I’ve been dreaming of all the fun parties and dinners we can finally have and the first thought that comes to mind is not the entree or attendees, it’s how will we serve dessert!

When I blogged about our invitations, I mentioned that our printer had the idea of having the calligraphy done in mimicry of the font we used. But until I looked closer, I had no idea just how perfectly she managed this. I just thought we had spectacularly pretty calligraphy:

Eons ago I set out to Gocco our coaster favors to match the motif of our invitations. I’m so close to being done, I can taste it! Here’s a peek at how it all came together:
I Gocco’ed the front of the coaster with two passes, and the back with our new monogram and wedding date.

Greetings, Wedding Bees!
I’m a 36-year old bride-to-be in Portland, OR, in the midst of many a gown shopping adventure. I have some photos to offer, all of which feature gowns that are probably not quite right… I beseech your advice.
My Aunt recently mailed me two family wedding gowns to try on. I was tremendously excited by the prospect of wearing a family dress. One is hers, which I believe is from the early 90’s, and the other is my Grandmother’s, which was custom-made of silk satin on Newbury Street in Boston in 1941. Most of my friends have taken one look at these and know that, while it would be great to wear a family dress, they are both too dated. (The problem with my Grandmother’s is that, because the 80’s so heavily borrowed from the 40’s…it looks totally 80’s!).
Check them out… Please ignore the need for alteration for a moment and focus on the styles. Do either of these work for you?

…Mrs Corn here, reporting the final installment of our visit to Paper-Source this weekend for their wedding event. Earlier installments include:
Defending oneself from Miss Toucan brandishing a hot embossing torch
and
Satiating our appetites for both yummy sweets and delectably calligraphic writing
By far, the most exciting thing that happened during our visit to the store was that we (or rather, our Weddingbee shirts) were recognised by Hayley Hoffman, the East Coast Area Manager of Paper-Source. She had read Mrs Raspberry’s post last year about the paper-wedding dress that was on display in Alexandria.
I need to share with you one of the most amazing organizational tools. Seriously. Shared by some of the awesome women over at Indiebride, it is by far the most comprehensive wedding planning spreadsheet I have seen, complete with formulas to help you calculate total costs and the number of people each person (bride, groom, parents) is inviting. Here are just some of the features:

Budget- it sure helps to keep track of the costs (and when more payments are due) in one spot.

I wish I would’ve taken better pictures of my bridesmaids’ gifts, but it got busier and crazier the closer it got to our wedding, so I never had a chance to take a picture of all the bridal party’s gifts. Here’s what I did come up with:
- 1 large tote to hold of all the gifts (a friend of mine bought the totes while she was in Hawaii just recently)
- 1 black wristlet from New York & Company
- 1 pack of Target note cards with their respective initials
- 1 gift card (I gave my 2 married bridesmaids a Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant) gift card for them to have a date night with their hubby while the non-married bridemaids got a Visa gift card.)
- 1 pair of pearl earrings (to wear on the wedding day)
- 1 pashmina shawl (to use on the wedding day)
- 1 bottle of our favorite wine, Stella Rose (red) or Moscato Asti (white) from San Antonio Winery in Ontario , Ca. We discovered this wine late last year from a gathering we attended and just loved it.

We went back and forth on the whole candy buffet idea, but then decided what better to go with our touch of Monopoly than conjuring up the image for our guests of old Atlantic City and sweets from the Boardwalk?

Step 1: DIY Pocketfolds
Step 2: The Main Invitation
Step 3: Invitation Sashes – TA DA!
I felt like I needed to dress up the outside of my pocketfolds with something – so I took the paper from inside the main invitation and created an outside sash.
Just like on the main invitation, this required a good deal of layering, but an even greater deal of adhesive. As I was doing this, I came to the conclusion that double-stick tape was just not made for bending, so I doubled up on my adhesives by adding craft glue.
A couple from our Marriage Preparation class last fall were married this past December in Manila Bay, The Philippines. Mr. Donut and I had lunch with the happy couple this past Sunday and got to see pictures of their beautiful wedding. We were instantly in awe of her very unique cake - a gorgeous 5 layer pillow design from The Cake Artist Judy Uson in Manila.
