Everyone seems to be talking about wedding rings recently. I cannot for the life of me figure out what the heck to buy Mr. Cream Puff for a wedding ring. Here’s a secret: I be po’. Like, really po’.
However, I really want Mr. Cream Puff to have a wonderful ring that he can have for all of eternity. I’m very sentimental–I’m not into the idea of ring “upgrades.” I want him to wear the same ring that we exchanged on our wedding day forever, you know?
When I saw Mokume Gane for the first time (on my cousin’s finger–hi Peter!), I immediately thought of Mr. Cream Puff, who is really outdoorsy and loves nature. Mokume Gane is a Japanese sword-making technique where different types of metal are folded together. It ends up loking like wood grain and is absolutely GORGEOUS. As I expected, Mr. Cream Puff really loves the look of Mokume Gane… unfortunately, I can’t afford the price tag, which is usually $1500-$2000.
We were running a little behind at the church, and then we got LOST on the way to the reception so we didn’t get to the reception venue until about 35 minutes into the cocktail hour. My photographer, along with his assistant for the day, Scott McQuarrie, got to the reception a good 20 minutes before us and, lucky for me, they decided to make good use of their time! I’m almost glad we were late because they got some of these great candid shots of everyone during the cocktail hour.
This is actually from the church (hmm… maybe the pews give it away?). My baby brother was waiting while we were getting pictures with my parents in the church.

Congrats to MissKim, Lisa, jennyt, and Sabrina who have each won 2 pairs of tickets to Lindsay Landman’s New York Wedding Workshop. If you didn’t win, you can still buy tickets here for the fabulous March 1st event here!

You still have until February 29th to enter Minted’s contest for a chance to win save the dates designed by a top stationery designer. Go here for all the details!
Our Save the Dates are finally complete and as far as I know have been received by almost everyone, so I can finally share all the pictures. I bought a rose clipart file from clipart.com and used Adobe Illustrator to change it to a light green color. Then I flipped and turned the graphic and placed different parts of it around the square. That’s all of them above, waiting to be stuffed and sent.

Everyone who knows about Ann Woods, loves Ann Woods. I am no exception (Exhibit A: giant sign on my lawn reading “I HEART A.W.”), and was thrilled/intoxicated/falling-down-drunk-and-giggling-hysterically-punch-drunk in love with these caketoppers:
Earlier this year, I posted about my desire to have a Bollywood dance performance at our wedding. I thought it would be the perfect way to introduce our friends to Indian culture and get the crowd in a festive, party spirit.
I’m happy to report that I found the perfect team: UC Irvine’s Sitaare! Sitaare is UC Irvine’s film dance team– they choreograph and perform dances set to popular Bollywood movie songs. Here is their latest performance from a national film dance competition, where they placed first in Hindi film dance:
(you can fast forward past the videotaped introduction: the dancing starts at 2:00)

I have a confession to make. I was part of a secret plot.Okay. Some background, first. Well, it goes back many years all the way to the fifth grade. That’s when I met Emily, who was to become my best friend. Perhaps my involvement in this scheme should come as no surprise. After all, Em and I had years of pretending to be detectives and notebooks filled with notes on curious neighbors to prove it.
So, a few months ago when Todd (another good friend of ours whom we had introduced to Emily nearly three years ago at Disneyland) told us of his plan to pop the question to Emily at Disneyland (aka The Happiest Place on Earth) with a little help from us, we gladly jumped on board. They had been planning a weekend trip to the park to celebrate Valentine’s Day and had hoped to meet up with us for one of the days.

As someone who regularly questions every decision she makes, whether it be her lunch, the book she’s purchasing or a pair of shoes, I did my share of questioning the marriage. I had no doubts Mr. Kiwi was an absolutely fabulous man, but I feared the choice we were making in marrying. To be honest, I have no idea why I did that, perhaps because unlike buying a pair of shoes or a book, this is something I couldn’t return (or undo) easily. Marital strife in your family can do that to you, I suppose.
I tend to think that the weeks leading up to the wedding are the most stressful and anxious, causing you to either grow closer to your intended, or show you what happens to your coupling when it’s under duress. Luckily, I passed that test, instead of tearing apart our relationship, the stress brought us together (in disgust for the friends and family who were behaving quite alarmingly) and love prevailed.

Bachelorette Parties! Bridal Showers! Oh my! They’re all part of the fun that most brides get to enjoy before their weddings. I looooove planning parties and events in general, so it’s definitely a pleasure for me to be able to go all out and plan these types of things for others. But now that it’s my turn to have those events planned for me, it just seems so awkward and foreign, I feel extremely guilty for it all. Am I weird?
I’m visiting my dress today, and of course, I’m nervous as ever. The sales lady ordered the sample size that I tried on at the store, because it fit just perfectly, however, it was a little TOO perfect (think squeezing-a-sausage into-the-casing perfect). So I was supposed to drop 5 pounds, which of course, I didn’t… but the sooner I see that that puppy doesn’t zip up, the faster I can maybe start motivating to hit the gym a little harder.
On the off chance that the dress DOES fit, I’m having the alterations done in-store, because I’ve heard good things about their services. Once it’s finished, I’m considering bringing it home to my parents’ house for storage. My friend, who has also bought her dress at the same shop, doesn’t want to bring her dress home, for fear that her Fiance will take a peek. I’m lucky enough to have my old room at my parents’ house to store it at, since I’m getting married near my hometown, so the risk of Mr. Penguin peeking is very low.

My MOH recently gifted me a blurb book showcasing all of the pre-wedding events that we had, from our getting-to-know-the-wedding-party barbecue, my bachelorette/girlie gathering day, my work happy hour/bridal shower and the bridal shower.
I just love my blurb book and it makes for a great coffee table book to look at and remember how much fun we’ve had. It’s a standard hardcover book with a landscape layout, but it looks like they have tons of templates to choose from. Shipping took about a week and the cost is about the same as Shutterfly, maybe give or take a few dollars. Here are some pictures…
I have been really into stamping and card making lately. Stamping is such an addicting hobby! I used to be really into scrapbooking, but I’m impatient and it takes so long to finish a scrapbook that I ended up neglecting my projects. With stamping, I can easily finish a project in a hour and move on to a new idea.
Anyway, I wanted to share a card that I made for the Valentine’s day exchange. I found this idea on a stamping blog somewhere and it’s the easiest card ever.
…from the wedding event at Paper-Source.
We were all exhausted from our crafting-gone-wild experiment, making our lovely, embossed take-out boxes. Luckily, I can smell wedding cake from a mile away and I was able to focus our energies on getting to the other side of the store where there was a cake tasting!
