About Mrs. Tiramisu

Inspired

March 5th, 2008 @ 8:32 am by Mrs. Tiramisu

I decided on a blue color scheme early on, and tried a couple of times to make an inspiration board, like the ones I had seen on so many websites, to tie all of my ideas together. I wanted a casual classic (eh, doesn’t everyone?) feel to the event, and I wanted to have an overall ocean/coast theme without resorting to seashells and sand everywhere. No offense to traditional beach brides, because it can be so lovely, but growing up in Maine, a good majority of weddings I’d been to had this theme. I really wanted something unique.

I cannot imagine trying to plan a wedding without the internet. Of course I was hooked on weddingbee the moment I discovered it, but there are many other wedding blogs that have been totally indispensable in the planning. For inspiration, I turned to Snippet & Ink. Kathryn, who runs the site, was sweet enough to put together a beautiful mood board for me… and it’s perfect! I’m definitely going to try my hand at making those adorable sea glass candle holders. Here it is: (click to enlarge)

Row 2: bouquet from MS, photo by Danny Weiss, boutonniere from Lisa Lefkowitz, cake from Jason Angelini
Row 3: ring pillow from Lisa Lefkowitz, stationery from Austin Press, sparklers photo from Susan Stripling
Row 4: image via {frolic}, drinks from MS, sea glass votive from BHG, lanterns from Luminous Designs

A word of caution to those visiting Snippet & Ink for the first time… her beautiful boards will definitely be enough to make you rethink your wedding themes and colors multiple times. Bright yellow and tangerine orange? Lilac and grey? Red and turquoise? Black and white with lime green accents? Why do I have to choose just one!?

Terrific board! I love Snippet and Ink, too!

Those sea glass votives are amazing - I checked out the website, thinking, “They can’t be using real candles! It’s got to be one of those electric tealights!” But sure enough, a real candle! And it looks so easy to make!

I’m an ocean blue bride (no seashells here, either). Looks like we have very similar ideas! I tried out the seaglass candles and they DID NOT work with real candles. They went out every times since the wick gets smothered and they dont get enough oxygen. However, they should work really well with the battery-powered tea lights :) If you have any luck with a real candle, let us know!

Isn’t Katherine great? Snippet and Ink is one of my favorites…and I have no idea how she does it. Even if I could find all the cool pictures she has, I could never put them together like that. Beautiful board!
