About Mrs. Cupcake

Lately I’ve been prone to some minor wedding freakouts. I think it’s because we recently passed the one-year mark of being engaged, and we now have 6.5 months left to get everything done. I have focused so much over the last year on seeking out great ideas, color schemes, inspiring photos, etc., but now I actually have to stop flip flopping and make some hardcore decisions. And as you may or may not remember, I am somewhat dreadful at making decisions. I’ve put some off for so long that now I’m kicking myself for not getting some of this stuff done earlier in our 19-month engagement.

Then, there are the decisions I have made that I am beginning to second-guess. For example, last week I had a little panic about the bridesmaid’s dresses. They came in a few weeks ago but I haven’t had the chance to go see them since I have been either sick, incredibly busy, or getting ready for my mom’s wedding. I had a horrible day-mare that the teal color would be way brighter than what I was hoping for and I would hate them. So today on my way home from work, I finally stopped by Lizelle’s to pick up my Matron of Honor’s dress and I breathed a heavy sigh of relief: the color is perfect!!! Phew. Okay, I feel a little better. Just a little. One detail down. Too many more to go.

Here is the dress…. picture it on a person! It is Alfred Sung style D328 in Teal.

I still have some vendors to hire (namely a florist and a baker), and I also want to make final decisions about invitations, placecards, table numbers, and welcome bags soon so I’m not worrying about them in the weeks before the wedding, but I have so. many. ideas. that I like and I just don’t know how to decide. Being a graphic designer is a bit of a curse at the moment, because I will nitpick and nitpick over one thing for weeks, and I think I’ll drive myself insane if I do that!

Did you think you had it all together so much that you forgot to actually do stuff?

I am about 9 months away from my wedding and I am feeling really relaxed which is scaring me. I am dying to make some decisions so I don’t second guess myself at the eleventh hour. I also tend to agonize over decision making so I have a feeling I am going to be super stressed when I finally have to PICK.

hmmmm. With a 4 month engagement I thought I’d be slammed the entire time. Really though there was a month in there I felt like I did nothing wedding related. I was kinda freaking out like ‘um - am I supposed to be doing something?’ In reality - yes - I should have been taking care of the harder decisions that I just kept putting off. It all worked out though. Even if I did leave some things to the very. last. possible. second.

Having all the big decisions made, booked, etc can be misleading. There’s a bunch of tiny details the sneak up on you!

yes, all the time!

But you’re in great shape! I agonize over making the big decisions, too, but in the end, it’s all worth it! You can put forth something that you’re really proud of and completely enjoy it!

That dress is incredible!

That dress is beautiful.

I’m about 3.5 months away from my wedding, and I feel like there are just so many things I still need to do!

The funny thing is, we have 10 days left and I’m feeling “too” relaxed. Hehe. At about the 3 week mark, I had a breakdown because it was going so easily that I figured I *must* have forgotten something! Come to find out, I hadn’t. We had made so many decisions ahead of time and done so many things “too early” that everything was in place already. It’s a nice feeling, but not one I expected to have! My best advice right now, is that there’s never such a thing as “too early”.

That’s a beautiful dress. I love the color! I’m about 4.5 months away and I have lots of little things to do and one big thing-book the rentals.

I love the color! It’s the same color I was hoping for… except, since I, too, was worried about the teal looking to bright - I chose a darker “teal” swatch, that ended up being blue! Your girls will look wonderful!

I love that dress! I’m thinking about using it for my bridesmaids in the merlot color. I love the little brooch in the middle that adds a nice a detail to the dress. The teal is such a beautiful color!
