The Other Hump…

March 6th, 2008 @ 3:46 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

Check it…. Mr. CB’s gorgeous wedding ring. pleased022 I ubber loves…. The coolest thing about it? The diamonds are small, embedded into the two center rings and not too flashy. The second major bonus, the two center rings individually SPIN! How cool is it? We loved it the second we met, and ordered it upon our 2nd visit way back in August last year.

sad030 It’s too bad, we won’t ever see it ever again….

Come October, we got a phone call from the company that the ring had arrived. We weren’t quite pleased with the quality since the rings didn’t flush well with each other although the bonus was, they gave us much larger diamonds, but that made it super flashy. So off it went back to get redone.

Months passed and still no phone call or update. I wasn’t tripping though because my friends had gotten their e-ring and w-ring there and they were gorgeous; the company was trustworthy, not to mention, they had been there since forever.

Then came the new year. I’d been patiently waiting for 3 months since our last visit, so I began to call and check in. Days went by and no one answered. I didn’t worry too much until after maybe my 10th phone call - I’d been too busy to notice. Something didn’t feel right, so I made a quick trip over there on my lunch break to talk to them in person.

When I approached the shop, I saw that the store next to it was boarded up. Well the store was around the bend, no worries. WRONG! The store boarded up was the jeweler. My heart literally sank into the pit of my stomach and probably left my body. I felt like crumbling, this being soon after I had gotten news of Monster Crayon’s dissolve with no resolution.

Maybe they’re remodeling I thought? WRONG again! I spoke to the construction worker there and he told me they lost their lease. Someone was playing a really mean trick on me now… taking my money that is. I started looking into the BBB (I was ready for another battle man!), got the owner’s name, kept calling the store phone leaving messages, and emailing them.

I finally got ahold of the owner, and he reassured me that they were simply remodeling. After being connected to the sister company, since the phone calls were re-routed to its sister company’s corporate office a few times, I asked about the “remodel.” It was a lie.

Long story short, my heart break has since slowly healed: that owner is no longer with the company, the remodel was a lie, we have no ring, but finally after 1.5 months of haggling, I went down to the store, picked up a check and deposited it immediately.

Ring: Back to square one… and I am short on time.

p.s. Reason I didn’t disclose the name of the store - it’s done and over, there’s no point in rehashing it.

Oh how awful! I’m so sorry you had to deal with not one but two shady vendors! Thanks for putting my own planning hiccups in perspective.

And tanya2s - you’re too sweet. I will definitely show that Mr. CB to see what he thinks. He may end up going more plain now. Whatever he likes. =)

I think you need to go outside, spin around three times and spit to skake off the bad wedding juju! ;)

Seriously, you’ve been so brave and all your good record-keeping sure has paid off— but I HOPE this is the LAST time you have to make use of those records! ((BIG HUG))

In SF, try the jewelrymart if you haven’t yet. They have huge selection and good prices (wholesale). Sorry to hear about this — glad you got the refund check and that it cleared.

WOW. That is UNBELIEVABLE. Talk about a streak of bad luck!! Thank god that’s over!! You should check out Geoffrey’s Diamonds and Goldsmith in San Carlos. They designed and made my e-ring and they are FANTASTIC. I would never go anywhere else. Geoffrey is super helpful and would totally help you get something you love quickly. Good luck!

Suckage. But I’m glad you at least got your dollars back. I second the SF Jewelry Mart recommendation. It’s the shib.

oh Miss C-B your post freaked me out!!!!
i haven’t gotten my e-ring resized because - have you ever see the episode of 20 minutes where they talk about e-ring diamonds getting switched out - i’ve been scared!

yesterday me and the FI were checking out BBB to find a reputable jeweller to re-size and now i’m freaked out!!!!

but big props on tracking that guy down! good luck!

Awe Vy, I’m sorry I freaked you out. Ask around for your friend’s referrals and read reviews online as you have been doing. Why not take it back to the same jeweler that made your e-ring?

Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions, I will definitely go check them out with Mr.CB!
