About Mrs. Tiramisu

Don’t worry- I haven’t changed the theme of my wedding to some sort of fruit and vegetable pilates party with a bikini dress code. The picture you see here is Miss Tiramisu’s wedding workout inspiration board.

I might very well be the most unmotivated exerciser you have ever met. I am really good at coming up with reasons why I can’t go to the gym, and why I should go home once I am there. Recently I’ve decided that the key is to find things I enjoy- or at least don’t hate- doing. I’m just never going to be a runner, but I love the way pilates makes me feel, and I can’t keep up in spinning class, but I can get into the elliptical machine. I’m not planning some total body makeover, but I would like to be the best possible version of me on my wedding day.

So for inspiration, I have: the arms I dream of having- not just so I look hot in my strapless wedding dress, but to help me keep up with Mr. Tiramisu when we go kayaking; an overwater bungalow- to remind me that I want to look great on my honeymoon; fruits and veggies- I get nowhere near my five a day; the bikini I just bought during one of j. crew’s final sales; my running sneakers- cute shoes are always motivating; the pilates move that always kills me; and a sigg reusable water bottle- stay hydrated and be green all at once.

I keep promising myself that when the six five four month-mark rolls around I’ll morph into a low-fat Tiramisu. Do you think it will work this time? What are your sure-fire ways to stay motivated? I need your help!

I love the idea of a fitness inspiration board!
I’ve found the don’t-break-the-chain method works really well for me for motivation. I first heard about it through an interview with Jerry Seinfeld… I can’t remember what he uses it for, but the idea in this case would be every day you work out, put a big X on the calendar. Once you get started, you don’t want to break the chain — it’s surprisingly motivating to keep going once you see a really long chain of X’s! I can’t always do a full workout with my long hours, but I do keep weights around the house so I can at least get in 30 minutes of lifting to count for my workout, or I’ll do some yoga from home.

Put a picture of a celeb. or person who inspires you on your fridge! I put Marissa Miller’s (Sports Illustrated) cover on mine and it’s working! lol

I have that same exact Sigg water bottle. I take it everywhere I go with me. I love it!

If I don’t feel like going to the gym, I go put on a pair of pants that I know don’t fit. Staring at myself in the mirror makes me put my workout clothes on and rush to the gym. Luckily, I LOVE working out. It is the food part that gets to me. I love junk food a lot.

for me, if i paid for classes, i’ll be more likely to show up because i can’t bear to think of losing money for not showing up to class. lol, it’s a bit backwards but it works. plus, my classes are in my hometown so its easy to stop there on my way home from work.

Sorry, I was going to write something insightful, but that cookie dough in the fridge started calling my name, and, well, you can guess the rest….

:-) Is there such a thing as a lowfat Cupcake? Hopefully come September, there will be!

I actually have the work out video that #1 is from. Surprisingly kicks my butt, and I just do it in my basement (although not as regularly as I should).

I sign up for cardio classes and pilates classes with friends, that way, if I miss a class there’s someone to hold me accountable.

Perhaps a workout partner? Just sent you a PM about the same.

I totally agree with the paying for classes, I pay for two pilates classes a week and even if I don’t make it to the gym any other days I make it to my pilates! Of course…I also pay for my gym membership but somehow that’s less motivating :-)
