Hey, I Put Some New Shoes On…

March 11th, 2008 @ 5:44 pm by Mrs. Sundae

I hope that song is now stuck in your head because it’s stuck in mine. :) The shoes that I wound up buying are incredibly comfortable, but I continue to worry that I just won’t want to wear heels all night. I plan on having a good ’ol time at the reception and don’t want to wind up barefoot because I decide to kick my heels off. The white flip-flop thing just really doesn’t do it for me (nothing against white flip-flops, I completely understand the practicality, they’re just not for me). I already have some relatively plain heels so if I am going to be changing into something comfortable, I also want them to be fun. And then, in the process of searching for some cute tote bags, I found these:

Meet my new “off with the heels” shoes. For $19.50 at Old Navy they’re hard to beat, plus I’ll definitely get some use out of them post-wedding. Anyone else opting for some comfy sandals?

I got ballet slippers for the reception. Actual ballet slippers from a dance store. They are the most comfortable things you can wear on your feet. It’s like being barefoot, but better.

I’m planning on changing from heels into something lower, but am worried about the change in height. My heels are 2.5″ so I think going to a real flat would make quite a difference in the height of the hem off the ground. I don’t think I want to hem my dress to accommodate flats, because that would make it look funny when I’m wearing the heels. But changing into another (lower) heel seems like it’s defeating the purpose. Anyone else have the same kind of dilemma?

be carefully with these sandals! While they are pretty, the plastic-ish/shiny sole part might give you blisters - i have similar ones from new york and company and after a night of dancing the balls of my feet get really sore

Yup, I bought a pair of kenneth cole sandals. They should be nice and comfy.
I agree with cinderella. I have a similar pair from Old Navy and the strap dug into the top of my foot.

I switched to cute-but-impractical sandals, and thankfully no one videotaped the last dance, because it consisted mostly of me trying to keep my shoes on and laughing like an idiot.

But they were really, really cute.

I have to concur with the complaints regarding this type of sandal. I have some from Nine West that are similar and they rubbed my foot on top and gave me blisters.

As for my shoes, I have fancy sparkly ballet flats from Jcrew for the ceremony and pics and I was debating whether or not to change for the reception into something even MORE comfortable. I aminspired by the actual ballet slipper idea. I took dance classes most of my life and they are the most comfy shoes ever!

I actually had the same dilemma as mtyf and after agonizing decided to go flat all the way, ceremony and reception. I am getting married outside on grass, though and I’m 5′10″ - both of those things factored into my decision making.

Miss Sundae….please email me at brandi_kenyon@uhs.org. I am very interested in the damask runners that you have made for your wedding. Would like to know if you would be interested in selling them to me after your wedding if they are for round tables. If not, I would like to know how you made the runners so I can purchase the fabric and do the same. My wedding is not until April 2009 so I have time. Thank you in advance for your kindness in emailing me. ~ Brandi
