About Me: In all my dreams of the man I'd someday marry, I never pictured anyone as perfect for me as Mr. Tulip. So now we just have to make it through the craziness of the wedding and the moving in together! I love crafts, sewing, jewelry making, and photography, so am looking forward to this chance for DIY fun. When not wedding planning, I'm playing with our dog and 4 cats, Ebay shopping, or watching too much TV (often simultaneously!).

My Bridezilla Moment

March 11th, 2008 @ 8:27 am by Mrs. Tulip

Perhaps it’s the lesson of many long years of illness, but for the most part I’ve been easy-going about this wedding thing. As with most of my life, I do what I can given the time and energy available. And if something becomes impossible, I learn to do without.

So it was a bit of a surprise this week when I had my first genuine Bridezilla moment!

Bridezilla

My mother called, sounding wretchedly ill, to let me know she had pneumonia. (In fact, she wound up in the hospital a day later….) And what was the first thought through my brain? Not, “oh, you poor dear, I don’t want you to suffer.” Not “what, oh what, can I do to help?” No, the first thought through my head was: “WELL, YOU’D BETTER GET BETTER IN TIME FOR MY WEDDING, LADY!!!”

Of course I love my mom very much, and I did NOT share that sentiment out loud! (and hopefully she’ll be completely healed in time for her trip out to our wedding….)

What Bridezilla moments have surprised you in your wedding planning process?

Thank you for your honesty, Tulip. It really is those first, gut, reactions that take us by surprise. Especially since they are gut reactions, so typically we are supposed to go with our gut. But the reality is we would never, never actually FEEL that way!

I had one of my own, but it is too personal to put here. Just know you aren’t alone :)
