About Mrs. Jasmine

My Favorite Celebrity Wedding

March 11th, 2008 @ 9:31 am by Mrs. Jasmine

Thanks to endless reruns of Law & Order: SVU, I have a date with Detective Olivia Benson every day of the week. I have a huge girl crush on actress Mariska Hargitay, the talented actress who plays Detective Benson. She just seems so charming, down-to-earth, and all-around adorable. Her soigne 2004 nuptials to actor Peter Hermann is my favorite celebrity wedding of all-time. Here are some photographs of the lovely day:

Mariska walking down the aisle with her father, bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay.

Almost all of the attendants were children– look how adorable the little girls are with their wands!

Aren’t they the cutest couple ever? They had a gospel choir singing during their recessional– what a fun idea!

Mariska and her father at the reception: they look so happy! I love the joy radiating across their faces in this photograph.

Mariska and Peter’s wedding reception was held at an estate in scenic Montecito, California.

Mariska carried a locket with photographs of her mother, the late actress Jayne Mansfield, and her grandmother. I love this idea– such a precious way to keep loved ones close to your heart.

Mariska had Peter’s initials sewn in blue inside her wedding dress. I love this idea– I’m going to ask my mom to sew our wedding date and Mr. Jasmine’s initials into the inside of my skirt.

The roses and gardenias in Mariska’s hair are simply breathtaking. The look is so romantic and old-world. It’s my favorite part of her wedding day ensemble.

I adore Mariska’s blush Carolina Herrera dress– it is elegant and timeless, but the hint of color makes it really unique. Their first dance was to “Over the Rainbow”.

Perfectly luxe seating cards– these are so dreamy. I love the contrast of the whimsical calligraphy with the classic white silk.

This wonderfully whimsical confection from Very Different Cakes is six feet high! It makes a dramatic, vibrant focal point of the reception.

These menu cards are perfectly elegant and the food looks delicious! Oh Mariska, why wasn’t I invited?

The beautiful couple at the end of a joyous day.

Tell me about your favorite celebrity wedding!

I loved loved loved Gwen Stefani’s wedding To Gavin Rossdale. From her pink Galliano gown to holding her grandmother’s prayer book rather than a bouquet… every bit of the wedding was unique and very “Gwen.”

I’m a huge NXD fan and I remember stalking GettyImages and other paparazzi outlets to get my first glimpse of that wedding. Loved it!

Mariska’s was so so gorgeous as well.

I always loved Christian Aguilera’s wedding. Really beautiful. She released a video of wedding footage after their son was born, its on YouTube if you want to get a peek.

I also thought it was very cool of them that they declined all wedding presents and gave all the monetary gifts to charity (I think it was for Katrina victims, not sure). She seems to have it all so why not share!

Ack - the pictures just talked me into buying an embroidered monogram for my dress! I am not set on keeping my dress for myself (I’ll probably donate it) so it will be nice to have a keepsake I can pass on to a future daughter. What a great idea and thanks for reminding me of it!

I believe the choir sang “Oh Happy Day” wich just seems incredible!!

I recently saw photos of Lisa Ling’s wedding, so amazing and personal and untraditional. Gotta love that.

And Jolie Fisher had an incredible destination vow renewal! Maybe I’ll plan one for us in 10 years. :)

This one is also one of my favorties- very beautiful. I know everyone is happy at their own weddings but they look absolutly radiant. I also want to incorporate gardenias into my hair but my florist is adamant that they will wilt quickly. I just noticed that Mariska only wore the gardenias for the ceremony and the gardenias look great. I might just do that:)

I would have to say this is one of my favorites. So simple, by celebrity standards, and she is beautiful. SVU is my favorite thing on TV.

If anyone is looking for a pretty label for their dress I whole heartedly recommend the Gartermaker (http://www.thegartermaker.net). Beautiful labels that can be sewn right into your dress! I had one done for my dress, with pretty blue stitching.

jp: I totally agree! That’s why I rely on the repeats— the previous seasons were *so* good! This season in particular has been kind of a letdown. New episodes in April though so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

eae2485: thanks for the site– those labels are beautiful!

She is so stunning, this wedding looks incredible! I don’t know that I have a favorite celebrity wedding, but I do LOVE how classic Jackie O. looked at her wedding to JFK.

My wedding was totally inspired by JFK Jr’s wedding to Caroline Basset. If you look at my bio I think I got pretty close with my ceremony!
Also, I recently videotaped a wedding where they did their recessional to a gospel choir singing “Oh Happy Day”. It was a suprise for everyone except the B and G and it was pretty fun. You can watch it here if you wanna:

Here hair was simply GORGEOUS with those flowers and that veil. That is the same sort of look I was planning on doing and I just hope mine will look as good! :)

I love the 1960s style of Elvis and Priscilla Pressley’s Vegas Wedding - the cake is HUGE and amazing.
