Bridesmaids Need Lots of Love

March 12th, 2008 @ 5:53 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

Over the past few months I’ve been trying to slowly collect gifts for my bridesmaids. I have a few things already and I just added these to the pile: (from Sheila D)

They’re on sale for $12 (down from $18 which is still totally reasonable) and I think the girls will like them a lot. With my order I even got a freebie for me:

I have a tote bag from this company and I get so many compliments on it. Now I’m on the lookout for something to fill them with! Any ideas?

Those are really cute. Just a couple of things I am planning to put in my bridesmaid’s bag:
Foot petals, lip balm (Fresh Sugar Lip Balm, hopefully), Trial size hand/body cream, Blotting paper, and some sort of mints in a cute tin. Have fun filling the bags.

the bags are so cute.

not sure what your budget is but how about a few nice makeup brushes (the essentials), lip balm, luxurious hand scream and a gift certificate for a mani/pedi or spa outing?

Foot petals are a great idea! I would also include earrings (briolette earrings from etsy are currently my fave) and lip gloss.

I think anything having to do with foot cream/pedicures is a brilliant idea. My feet are always so beat up after weddings that giving them something to pamper their feet is an excellent thank you!

Honest opinions please- are these croc flops ugly?

I’m considering them as part of my BM gift bag, to wear after the wedding at the after party. Part of me thinks- these will be so comfortable after standing around all night! The other part of me thinks- ew, crocs. Even though they’re not the typical ones. And they’re in one of the wedding colors. Thoughts? If someone gave these to YOU, would you have the “ew, crocs” gut reaction?

@redvine: Maybe you could look at non-crocs flip flops then? There are lots of cute and comfy ones, and you could probably get them for a lot less $ than those.

Redvine, I think it’s totally personal preference. Even though I’m sure you’d rather it be a surprise, it might not be a bad idea to just ask your bridesmaids flat out. I, personally, would not wear them, either during the after party OR ever again. It’s less vanity and more that I absolutely loathe flip flops and refuse to wear them…. but even if I DID wear flip flops, those are pretty ugly in terms of something to wear after the wedding!
Personally, I think footwear is a kind of touchy subject to get for people, because everyone’s feet are different shaped. I, personally, am letting my bridesmaid pick their own shoes (in the same color) and LOVE when people give me the same opportunity — both for the ceremony and the reception if we’re allowed to change into something more comfortable. I was once forced to wear matching peep toe shoes, and I am not exaggerating in the least when I say that the shoes were SO painful for the shape of my feet that I literally bled all over and dripped blood on the aisle runner!
